CVT should be considered Automatic IMO because it is computer controlled instead of manually. It's such an amazing tranny...especially since it constantly juggles the stresses of continually varying amounts of torque with minimal loss and damage. I'm imagining that the sound of the tranny shifting a lot will take some getting used to

The Mitsubishi Tarmac/CZ-3 has what sounds like an automatic.

it upshifts a lot faster than the manuals in the game but the downshifts seem kind of slurred

It's not like that in real life, but I guess they do that to make it even.

I must say that the Lancer EVO VII GT-A is one of my favourite cars in the game. With the engine fully tuned the stock box is perfectly geared for 200 mph

I must say that some of the manual transmission cars in the game have incredibly slow upshifts. The Caterham comes to mind on that. Doe the motorcycle heritage of the engine have something to do with that?

That'll be my next car then. :)

Probably, but I think it has something to do with the stock flywheel. The revs climb and fall rather slowly. The gearing is also unrealistically tall.

before you start to try and guess cars like the Audi Quattro, drive it first, or try Arcade to drive it because I don't want to post something up on the list that is wrong. Also, I love the GT-A, own one in every color and made one with a wing and Evo VIII Rims for a hybrid VII/VIII. I also hit about 192 on the Nur strightaway but I had to brake, but I had alot of powerband left. I also hit about 197mph on Circut de la Sarthe II. I also use stock suspension on all of mine, and the Wine Red one is my stocker. Since it is a economy version of the Evolution, it is more FWD dependant than the regular Evolution VII and VIII, same with the Evo VI RS. The GT-A has a Auto-Tiptronic transmission, a regular high capacity Automatic with gear selection or fully automatic transmission. We need that over here in the states because some kids from my school want the performance of an Evo with ease of an Automatic Transmission. lazy dumbbells, I want the new 6-speed one but costs too much.

EDIT: Also, I think Autos on this game are the best due to early shifts, early shifts in a Manual Tranny leaves you in Nuteral for about 2-3 seconds, Automatic Transmissions shift right into the gear which helps the Evo for a torquey take-off! Try this, on a track that you pull off from a standstill, take a GT-A and take off and shift into 2nd. you'll ear the transmisson whine as you upshift and the torque will kick in at full peak at around 4,000RPM's (When the turbo is loudest on the stock model)
