TRUE AWD (NO VCD!!!) drift setups??

Every AWD drift setup I see has the VCD set to 10...that's not AWD drifting, homeboys. I can set up pretty much any RWD car to do exactly what I want with no problem, with power being the only limiting factor. Does anyone here know any good AWD setups? I remember seeing a video of a yellow Impreza LM and a ZZII just going at it, @ maybe 80-90 degrees to the track on every turn no problem. Does anyone know how I can set up my AWDers for that? I'm almost bored with RWD drifting...

*IMMEDIATELY goes back to watching 180SX replay on Trial Mountain*

Posts some links/setups...I'll search in the meantime...

i remember vinkento (sp?) had an AWESOME setting for the zzII.

it was freakin great.

I could try and bring up some settings for mine. I don't cheat and just set the VCD at 90% rear. I actually drift close to 400hp w/ simulation tires.

If you have the Nismo R34 Skyline I could go find the settings for you, that's the only 4WD car that I have used recently that I know is set good, as it was my entry in the GTPDC #3 that got cancelled.

I messed around with the regular R34...I have S. Softs in the front, S. Slicks in the back, NO VCD, and I'm messing around with the LSD. I'm at about 490hp, but I think I might take it down, as it's become pretty bipolar...it drifts mildly, but when you push it a little then it just totally flips out and spins like crazy. It's more spin crazy than the average FR drift car...go figure...

Something to consider is that I'm working strictly with a DS controller...could my lack of throttle modulation be the problem? Or DO I NEED MORE POWER?????????

For 90 degrees angles with AWD/4WD I suggest the R34 with max Hp... I managed to achieve those angles with both the R34 and 3000GT.. the settings (if you are interested) demands high hp and full modifications. I haven't tried drifting with sims tho:crazy: I'm sure it can be done.. but with slicks it's just more stable...

A stock R34 GTR is a good drifter by itself. Just add Simulation Tires on the rims and then just Port Polish the darn thing. Then it's ready to drift :)

Try to use Simulation Tires in your case. And probably the lack of throttle modulation may be the problem. Try working on that if that is your problem. It just takes practice :)

Another great stock drifter is the Nismo 400R. Just add Simulation Tires to those and go onto the course.

Edit: I used to drift with a DualShock 2 controller, but right now I'm trying to learn how to drift with a wheel :D

I have come so far with the DS there is just no turning back. I might lose my craft if I have to relearn everything....besides, sometimes I miss out on drifts because my cars are usually tuned for full throttle drifting, but when I get it right there is no stopping the slide.

Sorry for the cheesiness... :D ...I'm gonna go to bed, as it's 1AM in NYC, but I'm gonna mess around with the Impreza wagons tomorrow. That was the best drift car in GT2, I could drift around the whole big backwards S in Seattle Circuit (the boxy ones after the mega straight, it's like a Lego chicane).

Its not so hard to do full sideways on 4WD, i know how to do it but i cant explain it, i dont know how so oh well, someone here can tell, because they have knowledge. Good luck on finding 4wd settings, you'll find it eventually.

i never equip my AWD drift cars with VCD or LSD. i leave that stock...and it seems to perform very well, especially on the R34, Evo's.

You mean counter steer and give it full gas? That's how you you do it on big sweepers.

Back to dirrrty drifter...

You should work on equal balance tires on your car. Putting two different compounds and trying to learn how to drift will just make oyu have a bipolar like you describe if you don't know how to control it.

I just suggest start with a stock suspension, do some clutch/flywheel mods and a carbon driveshaft. Equip the car with simulation tires and about 300hp. Then work your way up to about 400hp and you'll love it.

You gotta start small to get big.
