True LAN mode

We have On-line with up to 16 players.
Is there a chance to Get a True LAN mode with 2 to 16 Players connected via a Local LAN.
This would be Off-line, not Internet connected..

One PS3 acting as the HOST.
and Each Player having their Own PS3 connected to the LAN as clients?

LAN mode is crucial to a good racing game, but it seems that PD is reluctant to add it to an on-line version.
