This was by far the best motion rig at the Expo, I really loved the violent nature of this rig, it was nice and brutal, just like a real race car. I can't wax lyrical enough about how good this rig felt.

Really really cool. The ECCI wheel and Carbon pedals were so good, the brake required 130 kg of pressure, and mate could you feel it!!!!

Cheers AussieStig

You might want to fix the SimXperience in the title, since it's not a SimXperience.

Very interested to know how you would compare the Leo Bodnar to the ECCI though. Particularly in regards to how noticeable the immediacy difference was, logically in the favour of the Bodnar.

Edit: Ah, me stupid. I now realise the obvious - that you were referring to the motion and not the wheel in the title. Actually reading it would have helped!!

Ta mate, I asked the guys on the stand and they told me it is from SimExperience.

So I will leave it for now.

So what felt better. The D-Box style motion you tried or this?
D-Box looks more natural as there is no car in the world that doesn't have its seat not bolted down, in other words the SimXperience style just seems weird to me.

Engaged some grey matter and added to my first post.

I too would be very interested in hearing how you you'd compare the two motion styles. Not that it's an easy task trying to form an anywhere near complete verdict in those types of situation.

I preferred the feel of the SimExperience style rig, it was raw and quite realistic. The larger D-Box rig was cool, but it felt like I was more out of control than in control if that makes sense. The D-Box rig with smaller units was more stable and gave better feedback, but unfortunately that had a CSW and pedals which were, I think past their use by dates. So that dulled the experience on that rig a little.

Sounds like the D-Box actuators were too slow and weak to handle the weight of the rig. Slowing down response and causing lag instead.
This was one of my fears, even though it is a superior design it just requiers a lot of power to move an entire rig. Which you can see by the huge hydraulic pistons on those official F1 motion sims.

Personally I find a moving chair unrealistic, but I can see why SimXperience went that route. It seems it is the best solution within a still half decent price point.

Just a silly question. Which motion rig tyred your arms more?
Cause I reckon in case where the chair moves independent from your wheel your arms will move a lot as the distance to the wheel is shortened and lengthened. I think this might tyre your arms more than normal since your arm muscles will try to compensate for this 'excessive' movement.
I could be wrong though, but I am just interested in some 'odd' pros and cons from each system.

Thanks for sharing your experience. :)

Oh Logi, just an FYI the Dbox can lift that rig easily, its just that the new 6 inch travel Dbox actuators are not dialed in yet at all. There are constant updates to firmware for those things. Even the 3 inch travel Dbox I have can lift that rig easily, it can lift 1K pounds. Its all about how its setup. You can dial in the response time to be more aviation like or car like. Those large actuators though are brand new and the firmware is still pretty much beta.

I myself prefer my smaller actuators as the response is just more realistic for a car IMO anyway.

Thanks for clarifying that. One thing though, I never actually saw the actuators being sold separately. Or am I missing something? Would be a nice upgrade to DIY 80/20 rigs if it were (if one has the money for it that is).

Edit:
Never mind that question.
