Trying to improve my line and braking

Hey everyone,

I am trying to improve as a racer, and it is happening I guess but not really in the way I would like. I would like to really learn the best lines and how to brake at the correct distance. I can get the braking distance down for the lines I take now, for a specific car after several laps; but that doesn't seem to be anything spectacular. How do I learn my to take better lines and adjust braking distance on the fly; as opposed to a almost formulaic method where I can't adjust. Is there better way to learn?

You could try to trail braking.

Trail braking is the same technique that is used for the braking drift technique; it is the same concept of oversteering the car into the corner. The only difference in racing is that you try to minimize the slip angle to only a few degrees, so not to lose too much time sliding.

This braking technique has several advantages
:

You can brake later.

Normally you’d already be going steady on the throttle, but since you are still on the brakes front to rear weight balance is easier to adjust.

Due to braking, the weight shifts forward so front grip increases, allowing you to turn harder into the corner.

Rather than relying on the steering you can brake your way into the corner. You rotate the back-end of the car (oversteer) so that you will have to steer less when going in, and coming out of the corner.

Yeah Deltas answer is a good one. You could be like me and just have to blow every corner every way possible before it sinks in what you should be trying to do and then once you know that you have about a 50% chance if your lucky of actually doing it.

I suggest giving seasonal TTs a serious your ultimate best effort shot just once if your truly extremly serious about wanting to get better. I know of no other place that can teach you all that you dont even have a clue about yet when it comes to driving in GT5.

I always learn new things. I learn new things and then have placed top ten doing those new things. hahahaha

Its pretty cool and Im not really even a good driver in my opinion. Ive just used Seasonal TTs as my personal ultra pro GT5 driving lessons instructor.

Get pretty good by the end of a TT...suck at the beginning always it seems still unfortanetly.hahahaha

The best way to learn in my opinion is seat time but I would also suggest using the racing line to find out what lines are the best for different tracks and turns even though it might be a bit nooby. I would also suggest using some unforgiving tires such as sport hard tires or even comfort soft tires so that way it's not as easy to correct a "bad racing line" once you enter and are going through a turn, it will give you a better incentive to try your best and take the right line smoothly and accurately.

I hope I could help you out a bit man. 👍

yeah, that is a good idea. I need to use the harder tires to really make me work for it. I will give it a shot. Is it easier to gauge it when you get better, or do you have to feel each cars braking distance do really get an idea.

On the track you will see tire marks from stoping. Just use those. Also race with all aids off.

It does get easier as you get better but you have to remember that each car will react differently but in short you will learn each car faster and have a better general idea on braking distance once you've gotten "better", yes.
