Driving any track for 9 hours has got to be pretty boring.

I thought about this when I selected which car to drive for 9 hours at Tskuba. I selected the Suzuki GSX-R/4 Concept '01. If you are not familiar with this car it is a small, light weight (640 kg), open cockpit with a motor cycle engine producing 259 hp. I upgraded the engine to 289hp and put racing slick tires on it. I set the aerodynamics to maximum down force.

The cars you are up against are much larger and more powerful. Most of them are faster on the straight. The best of them will run about 59 sec per lap, so you have to beat that.

I am over 1/3 of the way through the race. I am averaging 56.5 sec/lap including pit stops so I have a comfortable lead.

What makes it fun is that the Suzuki Concept can run fast off the racing line. You can pass by out breaking, out turning , and even passing on the outside of the final sweeping turn. Because Tskuba is so short, there is lots of passing. The Suzuki is built for this and this track.

The Suzuki is not lightning fast like a FGT, F1 Ferrari or Redbull, it is just really fun to drive. Try it, you'll like it and make the 9 hours go a little faster.

Hmm sounds like a good plan... however I honestly doubt I will ever do that race. The thought of spending 9 hours on Tsukuba... I'd rather drink bleach.

-got a fair way to go only level 30 ,i'm hoping to do it in cappuccino,if that's not up to it it'll be the Elise

Ok you got me onboard, I'll give it ago. I keep getting people telling me how fun the GSXR is but I have not yet got around to driving it. I'm currently half way through level 32 so soon I will be levelled up enough to to the 9 hr race.

+1 This thing sometimes feels like a go kart and is great fun to race with.

I don't know restrictions for tsukuba 9h (are there any?)

if not, I will try with alfa tz2 zagato. I did fr challenge (300 or 400 hp) with only 170 hp on board :D

maybe it will need some tune for tsukuba, but even stock that alfa is like a little rocket :D

The Suzuki GSX-R/4 Concept '01 is a great car and I love driving it.
However 9 hrs at Tsukuba was a very poor choice for an endurance race.
More like water torture.
4hrs there was quite enough.
I will probably skip it.

Just did this yesterday with the nissan calsonic race car. Using racing hard, it was pretty good race with the s2000 turbo faster than me. However in such a small track, the ai get hung up in each other letting me catch up and take the lead. Found it more fun than I thought it could be

Do it in the X1.

Race for an hour.
Leave it for half an hour.
Race for an hour.
Leave it for half an hour.
etcetc

easy peasy.

I have now completed 6 hours.
381 laps complete, average lap 56.7 sec

Nearest competitor 17 laps down, average lap 59.3 sec

Still having fun passing inside, outside everywhere at anytime. The GSX R/4 is a super car to drive.

I loved the GSX in GT4 where I used it a lot in 200 Aspec races. OP certainly has given me an idea to run this car on this oh so boring track for 9 hours. 👍

I don't get it... why would anybody want to watch Carl Lewis racing a Special Olympics field..? (or why would Carl Lewis WANT to race a paraplegic?)

If your nearest competitor is 17 laps down, you made it too easy for yourself.

Your comparison might be accurate if I were using an FGT or X1 but the GSX has less than 1/2 the horse power and is slower on the straights than most of the other cars in the race. You have to drive the car to win.

I am not interested in driving for 9 hours and not winning the race. Are you? What car did you select for this race and what was your average lap time???

I completed the race. I had a total of 569 laps with an average lap time of 56.9 sec/lap.

The 2nd place car was an S2000 GTI Turbo. It completed 542 laps with an average lap time of 59.8 sec/lap.

The last three hours were pretty tedious, although the GSX is a delight to drive. I certainly won't be doing a 24 hours race until a "save" function shows up in GT5...

Am trying to man my self upp to do the last 2, 24 houer race's. The 9 houer whasent so bad. U can put on Lets say Lord of the ring trilogi or all the Big bang theory series, thats how i did it:). Have that running on a computer close by while u do endurance race. I did it in the escudo its the perfect endurance car. Whene it comes to 4wd, light car, u will be like 50 laps ahead whene u done. And u dont have to pit often.....Depends on your driving:)

lol exactly what i was thinking

i think i'll just grab the x1 and race for 5 hours then sit for 4 lol

Why is there two endurance races on a track that doesn't even have day/night/weather? That's so lame, sunny all day. :\
