Welcome to Tuner's Club Racing!

This is a clean racing event I will be running on a weekly basis in my lounge. This originally was the idea of myself and friends of mine who enjoy GT5 over at the Seriousless forums. Here's the link to the original thread I posted there. We decided it would be a good idea to post over here to see if we could get some more clean racers involved. If you're interested in participating, please send a friend request to Ruta_Baracuda on PSN. Here's the details below:

  • I'm going to be running races on Monday evenings around 7:00 PM EST (that's 12:00AM GMT).
  • Races will be between 100-200km in length. Most of the time, they'll probably be 100km, since people's time is precious during the week.
  • Damage will be set to Heavy for all these races, grip reduction on edges will be set to Real. Penalties will be off except for WRC and SCCA style rally events.
  • Driving aides will be off except for ABS.
  • The races will be heavily based off of SCCA, BRSCC, FIA, WRC, and HSR club and professional races, and the regulations for these races will mimic those used in the real-life races. This means tuning restrictions and tire restrictions. I'll see if I can make use of the PP system to help with this as well to help make even and fair races with regards to tuning cars.
  • The Rules of Clean Racing and the OLR ought to be followed at all times during these races.
  • Types of races will be announced in a 6-week schedule.
  • The track(s) and tuning restrictions used for each week will be announced a week in advance.
  • A rolling point tally will be held, and at the end of each month, the highest scorer for that month will receive a mystery prize from me.

Here's the schedule for the first season. For the first set of races, I'm keeping it for events that can be funded easily for cars purchased right from the premium dealership.

Races for the first six weeks
Week 1: Japanese Super GT DONE
    Week 2: SCCA T2

I'm adopting the points system Team Lotus is using, since it seems to suit smaller crowds:

    Point System
    • 1st - 20 points
    • 2nd - 18 points
    • 3rd - 16 points
    • 4th - 12 points
    • 5th - 10 points
    • 6th - 8 points
    • 7th - 6 points
    • 8th - 4 points
    • 9th - 2 points
    • 10th - 1 point
    • DNF will be awarded points based upon current standing when race ends.
    • Leaving the race will be awarded 0 points
    • A lost connection to PSN in the middle of the race will be awarded 1 point.

**** After Monday, 3/21/11, Tuner's Club Racing will end and will resume as Spec Saturdays on 3/26/11****

Maybe I'm missing something about GT5 but how do you ensure that someone is not violating a tuning restriction? I am not sure you can unless you have possession of their car and even then, you can just remove the tuning mods you put on before you send it to someone else.

I think a better idea is to pick a car, weight, hp, tires and let everyone tune it however they want with whatever parts they want. So much simpler and easier to understand and no room for cheating.

Well in this case, performance points will be a big help. We are partly going by the honor's system here, but also in the WSGTC thread, there is mention of a way to look at someone's car to see if what they have bought for it, so I'm looking into that. In the case of this race I'm running for next Monday, it will be PP-based, and I've actually been buying the cars and tuning them to the specs to see how they perform relative to each other to determine what PP to set it at so it will all be fair.

The following race, the Dunlop TVR Challenge, will be easier to restrict because it will be only 2 cars that are only allowed to use a couple tuning parts and type A aero kits with everything else stock. So, they will have almost identical PP if tuned properly. With the aero kits, I'll be able to tell by looking at the cars in spectator mode before the race starts to make sure everyone is legal.

In the end, we're looking for clean, honest racers to join us.

Updated second post. Removed the second track due to time constraints; I want to be able to make Benda18's Monday Night Endurance at 8:30PM, and a second race will overlap with that. Also updated schedule.

Finalized car list and PP for Monday. Removed the Lotus because I just don't have the time to get the tune right to convert the 111R to the two Lotus models that are legal in SCCA. Added in one standard car - the Ford Mustang SVT Cobra '00.

I have 12 spots available and am taking sign-ups for this event. While I am keeping a points system, it really is more something casual than a hardcore racing championship event. I'm just modeling the races based on real-life racing events. Please post here or send me a PM if you are interested in joining in for this 100km (about 17-20 laps usually) event on Monday evenings.

hey I can still join the race for tonight right??

IF THERE IS STILL SPACE FOR ME, ADD ME... MY PSN: Mcdiego

Hey DaGo11,

I actually have to postpone this event tonight until next week because VERY recently some personal things have happened with one of the guys I'm running the event with, but I'll be sure to add you on PSN. Thanks for responding!

ZX636-R, there is still room. It's postponed until next week due to some real-life issues happening, but we will resume next week.
