Hello guys, I have a race online tonight using the Lancia Delta 91 from the prem dealer ship.

I have it runninh about 420BHP with everything on it. All tuning parts the lot.

What i am wondering is how to get the best out of it. At the minute round Autunm ring i am doing 1:19's on soft racing tires.

Is there anything i can do to go quicker.

that the normal autumm ring track , on racing softs ?

any PP limits or weight limits or is anything a go ?

Yeah the normal ring track.
Its anything goes. No weight limit and no pp limit. Max tuning.

Racing softs yup.
Not tried mediums
Or hards yet.

tire wear on or off ?

heading to the autum ring atm :P

keep in mind i ain't a tuner just a driver :P but i wanna have a go none the less lol :D

i am sorry but after a quick test , i managed mid 1.18's , but the tire wear on this car is just :ouch: ... i am running it with close to 0 toe and 0 camber but still ... i streched the custom 6 speed gearbox longer so i only need to use 5 gears ... this in an attempt to reduce the wheelspin

it prolly aint the best setup , but give it a try , if not just scrap it :P
I tried balancing the car our with ballast but that only increased tire wear ...
Oh the car doesn't have much understeer tho , it feels kinda stable

Sweet i will give it ago later tonight.

Also if i was doing a customing tuning event. Would you restrict the PP or The BHP or the weight.

You see i run a Gt5 league on a wednesday night. The Lancia is the first race of the second season.

But i have a wet race later in the season and what to make it a custom tuning event. What is best.

i think you will have a more divided starting grid if you base it on PP ...
people might be intrested to try out the more uncommen cars that way in an attempt to find a gem ...

BHP basicly means getting the ligtest car for the max BHP allowed . Unless you would implement a minimum weight but that could limit the choises of players in wich car to take

Well i was thinking
Only 4WD
And a max PP

So if i limit the PP would people have to choose if they wanted the use more bhp and have a heavier car or if they went for a lighter car but less BHP

@DaDog, for my own interest, could you raise the spring rate by about 1 or 2, and the ride hight to 0/0? That might help with tire wear. But I'm not sure.

Check out the FITT sticky and the shootout archives. Most were PP based and we had a lot of different cars enter :dopey:

Eh? Wheelspin? With only 420hp and on Racing Softs? Are you sure?

Also, check PMs, Dog. :p

yes i did read the PM and i will try the adjustments Boss , but not right not lol ....

Am working on my Touge car in wich i am planning on competing next season ( season 6 ) in LoTS

and i didn't mean wheelspin but the pressure ou the front tires , tought it would classify as wheelspin

Don't call me boss, or Krenkme will start throwing things at me.

Clueless Touge?

Well, it's as you say, pressure on the tyres as a result of something like weight transfer, I'm guessing, so it's not wheelspin as such, just the tyres feeling the strain of the weight. The gearbox does very little to help (if at all) in this case.

the Boss was directed to Krenkme lol i should have used a , i guess :D

Clueless Touge?

well i did get the comment yesterday that i have potential lol , not bad considering i was driving a stock car :D

So ondog. What would you say is the best tuning for the car in question.

Lancia delta 91
Tire wear on
Max tuning.

"Ondog"? Well, how many laps in your race? I'm guessing around 10, nice round number and all.

I PM'd DaDog with a guess setting, I've got a tuned up Delta somewhere in my garage, but I can't use the PS3 until tomorrow. For now, I suggest you look here for the tune. If you find one, chances are, it'll be better than what either me or DaDog could come up with.

Edit: Wait, no, Praiano has no tune for the Delta…dammit.

Its a 50 lap race. Sorry i mean daboy haha. I dont know enough to get heavily into the tuning side of the game. I want to though.

50 laps, eh? Hmm…It'll be a tight one if you can get up near the top, I can tell you that much. Don't worry, the knowledge will come in time, we were all clueless at one time. Read the stickies if you have time and see how much you could take in and use. You'll get there eventually. 👍

Some more then others :lol::dopey:

Long day at work. Trust me my head hurts haha. Sorry onboy. Did i get it right haha.

Ill have a drive and see what is best for the car.

Eh it's alright, I've been called worse.

What would be good is if you left a list of things you like in the car as it is and a list of stuff that's not so good, that way, we can help build the car quicker, I suppose.

Tbh i am starting from sratch on it. I just want to get it faster.
Like i said in my OP i get around the mid 1:19. This is max tuning, but i have not lowered it. I have not messed about with the gear ratio's. I have done nothing.

Would you say shorter gear ratio for autunm ring.

What I do for gear ratios is:

Leave the max speed setting alone unless its extremely low or high

5/6/7th gear far right
1st gear far left
Gears in between are spaced out at equal intervals (use the divider lines on the slider to help you)

Finally adjust final gear ratio to get your top speed (set max speed on the top right hand corner to around 10mph more than you need)

There should be a noticable difference. After that you fine tune so each time it changes gear it drops you into the powerband.

Would you lower her

Lower what?

Oh the final gear? I'd set it so the top speed indicated in top right is around 165-170mph, since I doubt you'll be going faster than that around Autumn Ring.

If you're hitting the limiter on the straight then lengthen the final gear slightly :)

Lower the car slam it right down. And would tou do anything to the toe and camber.

So if i have it set the gear ratio to what you have said, would it give me a quicker car through the gears.

Im sorry im so thick at this.

Personally I never slam a car, I usually lower the car leaving about 5 clicks from rock bottom, but you'd have to fiddle with springs and dampers alongside this.

I usually have around 1.5-2 camber on both sets of wheels, helps around corners, and negative toe up front, neutral rear.

If the car understeers, negative rear toe, if it oversteers wildly, positive rear toe.

And don't worry about it, I was in the same boat as you when I first started tuning, but the help functions on the tuning menus on GT5 do help, and the guys here are an even bigger help :D
