I usually install just the best turbo straight away (the big one) but I was wondering if installing all of them made a difference. I checked what the power output would be going straight to the big one, then installed the small one then checked again and no difference, also installing a bigger turbo dosent remove the smaller one :)

I haven't checked specifically, but turbo upgrades should not be cumulative. The best option will yeild the same amount of power as doing all 3. Having all 3 just lets you have options for HP restricted racing or to choose a broader TQ curve over peak HP.

yeah thanks, that what i was thinking :)

Remember though...with turbos bigger != better.

Actually the high rpm turbo is not always the best turbo to use. Each turbo not only produces a different power but at a different RPM range which can be important. Also on some engines the mid RPM turbo will produce more power than the High RPM one.

On oval tracks where the engin is always at high rpm then the high rpm is the way to go but on some other tracks espeically in certian cars mid or even low rpm will give you better performance.

No matter what you can only use one but havign all 3 on hand is not such a bad idea if you have the cash to spend.

Exactly. That's why I'm still on the stock turbo on the Evo. I love having nearly 400 ft/lb on tap at 3300 RPM. Plus, I'm broke and can't afford the BBK Lite I want. =(

Big turbo = more turbo lag.

I like to use the medium one better but sometimes the big turbo generates much more power

Your gearing comes in to play too. for instance, a 5-speed will usually be a little worse with lag than a 6-speed. The 6 will keep you in the power band or longer as revs don't drop as much during shifts.
