TV Problems

I've got a problem. Brand new TV. I've got my PS2 going in via a component cable. Then the TV cable. The audio out goes to my surround sounds system. But, only the audio from the Cable TV will go out to the sound system. When I switch to component and play my ps2 the audio doesn't go out. What gives?
TV is a Samsung TXP2675WHX/XAA
 
Do you have another TV to test the PS2 cable on? Or just remove the connection to the Receiver/stereo and *god forbid* use the TV speakers to make sure the cable is all right (That wasn't a dig. I haven't had my TV speakers on in 7 years. Everything goes through my receiver).

If the cable is good, then we'll dig a little deeper. :)
 
The PS2 cable works fine. The audio will play through the TV speakers. And even when directly plugged into the audio system. It's just not coming out of the TV outs when the PS2 is plugged into the TV.
 
So the audio from the TV works, but not the audio from the PS2 through the TV?

You could either pick up a female-female adapter to run the video jack to the TV and the audio jacks to the reciever or use the optical jack for audio if your reciever supports it. Other than that, you'll probably have to play with the TV's menu settings to see what needs to be changed.
 
I looked up your set on Samsung's site and I see that it has an optical out for audio. Is your TV sound connected to the audio system by analog cable or optical? If optical, it may only output sound from the built-in tuner, or from digital sources, i.e. a DVD player's optical out. In other words, maybe it won't output digital audio from an analog input. Hook up the analog audio as well if you've used the optical connection only.

OTOH, if you're using standard analog audio to your audio system, I'm not sure why it wouldn't play it through.
 
So your TV is not passing the sound from the Component input to its audio out? Do you have an optical input free on your receiver? That's what I'm doing: I have a visual-only component cable from PS2 to TV, and an optical digital cable from PS2 to receiver.
