TV Screen Blacking out

Hi all. I have a very annoying problem while playing GT5. Every 2 seconds (it feels like that) my TV screen blacks out for 5 seconds. It gets really annoying and it doesn't help when playing online. Not only does this happen on GT5, it happens on EVERY SINGLE GAME. I'm using a Phillips HDMI cable on an Emerson HD TV ( It can only get to 1080i) Help please!
 
Step 1, remove the HDMI cable (both ends) and put it back in again, you could even try switching ends on it, so the old TV end goes into the PS3.
Setp 2, try another HDMI cable in place of the current one.
Step 3, if it isn't the cable, connect something else to your TV via HDMI and see if it blacks out.
 
I have the same problem (or maybe not actually). In my case it's definitely the HDMI cable, has nothing to do with my PS3, nor TV, because I've used it for my laptop as well and it blacked out as well.
It seems like a HDMI cable is pretty sensitive and not that substantial overall. It's really annoying when playing a competitive online multiplayer game.
Kinda disappointed as I'm a rather careful type when it comes down to these things and I only have it for two years, it's also not exactly cheap for a cable, maybe it's just bad luck but still.
