I haven't tried this yet, and perhaps I need to ask in a dedicated AV forum, but has anyone played with their PS3 output settings/TV settings in an attempt to stop the input lag?
I'm not sure actually that my TV IS up-scaling the game, but I figure I will bring this up here as well as an AV forum. I'm presently using a Samsung C8000 LED-LCD tv, with game mode turned on. I don't seem to get any input lag with other games including killzone 3 or crysis2 (on xbox), and of course GT5.
The TV is a native 1080p set, and my PS3 is set to output in 1080p and 720p (both boxes are checked in display settings). When I turn on my tv and ps3 a little box shows up in the top left corner showing the resolution being displayed. When in the dashboard or whatever the displayed resolution is 1080p, once I put GT5 in and start, the screen flicks a second and shows 1080p still. When I put any other games in that are only 720p (KZ3, Shift 2, Uncharted, etc) the screen flicks a second and then displays 720p. I ASSUME this means that there is no up-scaling occurring? Is the PS3 doing some kind of down-scaling from 1080p to 720p and causing excess processing which may contribute to lag? As you can tell I'm somewhat unfamiliar with up-scaling processes considering the settings of the system, and the resolution of the tv, and the resolutions supported in game...
