. . . That is the question.

I need the knowledge of the S2000 crowd here.

I was thumbing through my garage and I realized that I was in possession of a couple 6.2 mile S2000's. A '99 S2000 and 2K S2000 type V.

Not knowing right off what the "type V was I looked it up to find that . . .

"The VGS system, which will debut in the S2000 type V, varies the steering gear ratio continuously according to vehicle speed and steering angle to provide a heightened "joy of maneuvering." The adoption of this variable ratio system ensures ideal handling performance through a broad range of driving conditions. Agile and exhilarating performance is especially noticeable on winding roads, since the front end of the vehicle turns sharply in precise response to driver steering input. While cruising at high speeds on expressways, the VGS offers a smooth and progressive ratio setup without excessive sensitivity, providing the driver with the relaxed and reliable driving feel of conventional steering systems. Astonishingly, the lock-to- lock ratio* is almost halved to 1.4 turns for better maneuverability in the low speed ranges."

And thats all well and good. But what is the difference in the game? Has anyone noticed any differences between a standard S2000 and a Type V?

I took both out for a joyride, and the only thing that I really noticed was on a standard S2000, the steering felt a little jerky, but it seemed to jump up in revs pretty quick. While the Type V seemed a little slower winding up, but seemed a little less reactive in the steering.

Does anyone prefer one over the other? And why do you prefer the one that you choose.

I did do a search on the site, but most of the threads that came up were either photo galleries, or car settings.

I preffer regular S2000,beacuse i drive it all the time, and i did not bought the Type V yet:) ,instead now i drive the Mugen Version:sly: .I like that car beacuse of RPM and the stability. It`s a true beauty on Nurburgring.Thumbs up on this 2 cars and i will test the type V and post it next time, btw good car choice:tup:

I remember reading about your 4 hour run at the ring while I was searching. Quite impressive.

Just recently I took my stock '00 Vtype into the "FR" races. In Seattel I smoked the competition and still managed 120 a-spec points. I keep leaning on keeping the V-type (only because it looks sweet in black)

In your opinion, have you noticed any overall advantage that the V-type has over the standard S2000? I realld didn't get any feeling from your posts.

Any S-2000!! 👍
This car, especialy the plain old Honda versions are what this game is all about for me....
I love the Amuse and the Opera versions, but gimme a 250-300 Hp near stock S-2000 on road tires and I'll just sit and turn laps all night with he dfp...:)

It's actually hard to tell, there doesn't feel that much difference between Type-V and non-Type-V, since the Type-V steering hardware adds about 30kg to the weight of the standard S2000, but there's no power boost to compensate.
However, the supposedly superior handling from the Type-V may offset the weight penalty in terms of cornering ability and thus laptimes.
However, since I've only used one car per race or championship so far, I haven't run the same race in an S2000 and S2000 Type-V to know if there's a significant difference.
I've also not run any side by side comparisons in arcade mode either, so I can't give you a definitive answer. Sorry. :guilty:
Not tried either of the new S2000s either, before you ask! ;)

I haven't used the new ones either. Just the 2 6.2's that I had in the garage.

I tested them once back to back. Both cars were stock, w/oil changes and the aids were set to 0,0,1. I ran them at a couple tracks. And on each track the type V seemed to come in 1 second ahead.

I'm going to keep the type V and sell off the standard S2000. Not only because it (in my hands) was a little faster. But also because It is in black!

I'l have to see if I can build it up a bit, and yet still be able to take it back to stock for some fun runs.

I drive the regular S2000 tuned up,actualy i have 3 setups, one for driftin` one with sport tires and one with racing tires, every setup have different parts choice, for drift it is stock mostly, just few parts added like LSD,flywheel etc. Sport setup is my favorite, fun factor guaranteed 👍 and it is around 350hp,and the racing is fully tuned, all with aids off. When i buyed Mugen version,i left it stock, and i`m adding the suspension, brakes and transmission parts on it,but no engine mods.It is better driving it stock and enjoying in the magic of small but indeed very big 2000 ccm!
