I just wondered what type of tyres all you peeps use here. I mean do you have a common choice or do you buy several kinds for your car?

Personally I use hard tyres the most, I find them most usefull for those pro race series and enduros. I used medium for most of the Amature series. The only time I ever used Super softs was in free run when I set a 0.55.200 on midfield raceway In me Gt-One.

So hows about you lot then??

I run one click above the hardest tires all the time. I don't waste(IMO) money on the super Softs because I can't use 'em after the beginer class.

for the amature, and some of the 10lap professionals i just used tires that were just hard enough so i never had to pit.

when im doing the 20 lap'ers, i use softer tires. if you have to pit no matter what, there is no point to using hard tires and pitting on laps 15 and 18.

At the moment I seem to used the Medium-Hard tyres. They seem to last as long as the ones on the AI cars, which for the time being is good enough for me. I'll probably move to harder tyres pretty soon when I start doing the 20 lap races and the enduros. I find the medium-hard tyres give me plenty of grip (until they starting getting a bit too old), and last enough time so that I don't have to bit every third lap!

I always buy Medium and Super soft. This way I have tires for enduros and seires. But I still have the super softs for 2 player and testing.

I picked up Super softs and hard & Medium hard for the Vitz race. Qualified on teh Super softs, and then set hard on the front Medium/Hard on the Rear for the race.

The wear pattern evened out, and I pitted on 4 Orange tires each time.

Other than that I usually run Medium/hard or hard

AO

Since I usually just follow the same pitting pattern as the AI, it would make sense for me to use something like Medium-Hard. However, I use Super-Slicks for three reasons:

a) It requires more skill, due to the lack of grip, so I learn to harness the power better,
b) If I need to, I always know that I can go crazy and still won't wear out my tires,
c) There are some gawd-d•••ed cars that never pit (Nissan R390 for example), so sometimes I do need those Super-Slicks...

Yeah - the Mazda 787B's another one that's very light on its tyres.

Actually, I just won the Nissan R390 LM car - I can't believe how good that thing is. The engine's very progressive (even with Stage 4 turbo) and the handling is very calm and progressive. The stock set-up's almost there out of the box.

I dont need no qualify for that I just stuck super hards on, and never needed to pit.

What box?? am I missing out on some car boxage here??

For the most part, Medium tires are the way to go. On longer races the T2 or T3 tiires are great. If you join one of the competitions or do some online racing you want to use the softest tires allowed.
I took a chop at Seattle yesterday in the Mustang SVT with sport tires on it. Then after ten laps of slippin' and slidin' I put the T7 (next to the softest) tires on and made some minor suspension adjustments. I knocked six whole seconds off my time. In fact, my slowest time on the softer tires was still faster than my fastest time on the sport tires.
