Tyre lock in practice...ughh...

Ok, let me just say that ever since i've gotten GT5:P i loved every single second of it. Call me crazy, but one of the most enjoyable aspects for me was personal time trials. I would take a car, run the hottest lap possibe save the ghost and run the ghost against another car of the same class..truly a great way to differentiate handling dynamics..I never even noticed until last night that i am now stuck with s2 tyres in practice mode!! I drive with professional physics and no assists, and to be limited to s2 tyres with an s-class car is just plain foolish.

If you were going to lock the tyres why not let the tyres be fixed to at least s3? S2 are wayyy to weak for any S-class car. In real ife these vehicles come from the factory with pretty sticky tyres, and to have reality obscured by having every little throttle input nearly put you into the wall is frankly a bit absurd....Try it out to see whay i mean...in any other car class it is acceptable, but pick a Z06 and try to get around suzuka :(
 
Easy. Don't lock the tires.

BTW, you drive with ABS off?
 
I don't think that's the kind of lock he meant. He means lock as in, they've removed the choice of tyre compounds.
 
Have you tried a Z06 (or similar) with factory tires in suzuka (or any other track), as in real life? Have you tried flooring the gas pedal with a powerful car (the equivalent of tapping the X key)?
 
Just like Real life, Go easy on brake and throttle.
 
Yeh, just take it easy.. I think a lot of people are used to tossing around even the most high powered cars with less realistic games. Not that GT5P is the most realistic sim, but it's getting there. Anyway, I love the level playing field you get in the RANKED time trials with the locked tires. I'm pretty sure you can set up your own track session with whatever tires you want. The times just dont get posted to the leaderboards.
 
i think S2 tires are pretty damn sticky, anything above sports soft (ie racing tires) becomes too arcade-y for me.. only LeMans and F1 should have racing tires

Agree, I don't yet own the US copy (ABS OFF and what not) but I remember when I play Japanese version. I always went with S2 tires. In reality Cars like Z06 does give you good tires when you buy one, but they are not slicks, they are still like S2-S3 :)

By the way, I hope GT5 comes out with at least 3 tire choices for Drift cars :)

in GT4, when i'm driving around for fun, i use N2s and N3s for stock cars, and S1s or S2s for racing cars below 700-800hp
 
I love the challenge of driving an F430 with S2 tires. Car really feels alive as you can easily feel the rear come loose.
 
The problem is on only s2 tires AWD has a huge advantage over rwd..
