Well, after getting my u740, I've spent quite a bit of time tracking down info and tools for it on the net...
At the moment I've figured out info on music, such as file name limits, etc. Along with ringtone tricks, getting movies on the phone, and more.
The interest check is in creating a directory of links and posts by users here, using knowledge they have obtained, on how to get the most of a phone. I figure with all the members and such, we can probably build a decent list... much like the computer tweaking list.
So, give feedback?
All right, I'll start with my phone.
Samsung u740
Carrier - Verizon
Notes: Using a 1 gig Micro SD card to get media onto the phone. Seems to work fine.
Music
I'm just using MP3 files at the moment. Just drag and drop into the my_music folder on the SD card. However, take note: You cannot have subfolders, and you cannot have file names over 36 chars (not counting ".mp3"). The phone will organize music based on the ID3 tags. However, albums I have found get wonky if you have different artists from the same album (often the case with Soundtracks). The phone would drop each artist into its own copy of the album, so I had 7 copies of one album, each with a song or two, till I edited the tags. All I did was grab all the songs in an editor (ID3-TagIT), and changed the artists all to "Various." But the criteria to have them get sorted correctly are Album, Artist and Genre, from my testing. Have those match up and life is easier.
Video
Using the 3g2 format, which works okay. Converter I am using is Super, and it seems to be working out all right.
Notes on settings...
Video Scale: 176:144
Aspect: 4:3, 5:4 or 11:9 (fiddling with this still)
Frame/Sec: Half the source file (you can find FPS of source by double clicking it in Super)
BitRate: 128 to 192 (the higher you go, the more likely to get choppy)
Options: Hi-Quality, 3gp v4/v5
Samping Freq: 22050
Channels: 2
Bitrate: 56
They are working pretty good right now...
I'll add more as I get it sorted out... but this is the format I think would be easiest to follow perhaps?
