Uggh...My camp experiance

I guess we'll see what happens when we die.

I don't want to turn this into a religion flamewar (we have enough of those).

I don't want to start arguing either...It's just that, I've never witnessed (brought anyone to Christ) for anyone before and I figured I might as well try now...but I can't force anyone to believe anything.

I got one of my friends to come to church and now he's always there....it's kinda funy because he is this HUGE football player and it's not exactly like you can force him to do anything....anyway we finally dragged him there and now he loves it....I think the problem that most people have is finding the right church for them...some churches have nothing but sermons all day while others have concerts and go to parks and have fun stuff to do all day long....usually tho if people are taken to a church and they don't like it they will think that all chrurches are the same but they are really different...anyway as I said my friend didn't want to go and now he loves it :D

*sigh* To each his own, I guess...But it's still a pity that you don't. God has such great plans for you, and loves you more than you can ever imagine....maybe someday you'll want to at least look into it; see if you can get someone to explain it to you. Once you realize that you are never alone; that you are always under His roof and have His protection; that His only son, Jesus died a horrific and painful death so that you could live.......maybe, just maybe, another soul will be saved from eternal darkness, and being completely cut off from God.
I don't mean to be rude or to try to derail the thread topic, but stating your religious convictions as facts to an atheist won't get you anywhere, especially at GTP. ;) And I think it's safe to assume that almost all atheists have at one time or another in their life considered religion (I know I have), but turned it down for obvious reasons.

Also, about your statement about having a purpose: What more purpose do you need than to know that you are living and that you have the potential to do many great things with your mind? That personally seems much more purposeful than devoting one's life to a cause that is based on emotions and a book written many years ago. To me, it's much more noble to be creating things, refining things, pushing the envelopes of technology, than to use that same amount of time doing, well, whatever it is you guys do (sorry if that came off rude, but I honestly couldn't think of a more appropriate connotation).

It works both ways....

and anyway it's not like we spend every moment of our lives doing something religious... we still have plenty of time to do other things....religion, to those of us who chose one, is not a burden but a blessing. Put It this way, whether you belive in a single God or many gods or are an athiest, you still want to live a happy life. Some people choose religion as a way of finding that happiness. Even if there is no "wrong" or "right" religion at least you are happy spending time with people who have the same beliefs__and moral values as you do. Personally I think that believing_in a higher being is no different than not blieving in one....the religious types view things that happend as "Gods will" while non religious types view it as pure circumstance or totaly random occurance...No matter what you choose it all comes down to personal choice..wether someone chooses to believe_in a God or believe__that there is no God is all a opinon which everyone is entitled to.

so TarnishedAngel5 posting her "religious convictions as facts" has about as much effect as you post saying that it "won't get you anywhere"

Nice way of putting it. :) I was having trouble putting what I felt into words....

I'm with StevieMo on this one...

But anyway, personally, I think the cause of most of these wars these days is the fact that people are of different religions, I tell you ***shakes fist*** it will be the death of us all!

Let me just say that I am SO GLAD I don't go to that camp! I couldn't have eaten the onion (although I have had raw onion before).

It sound like it was an interesting camp. did they let you bring your bicycles and such there (I'm kinda big on mountain-biking)?

see thats why I prefer to think that there is no "wrong" or "right" religion....It's those stupid people who think that people who have other religions need to die that ruin it for the rest of us....

No, no bikes...we had to walk every where...but it's loads of fun! (I was so healthy by the end of the week it's not even funny!)
