Well there's a hatch at the back, so I think so.

Removed accidental quote.

It was designed to be a cheap futuristic hatchback for the masses, but failed miserably.

Edit:Awww dammit. I pressed quote instead of edit.

Ummm, I didn't say this was nomination.... just to give you a heads up. I'll make it so its a nomination thread.

I don't know how to make it a nomination thread, can someone do that for me?

If so change it to : Ugliest Sedan/Saloon vote, Ugliest Hatchback Nomination thread!

Also, I'll nominate the AMC Pacer as the Ugliest Hatch.

You all laugh now, but imagine what would have happened if the Pacer had come with the rotary engine like expected.

Yeah, but it didn't so :p! I hope this thread is a little smoother to operate.

Im nominating....
That's right...
The Yaris.
I believe that it's actually ugly enough to take two categories.

Sorry, you're first post gave me the impression we were nominating too.

No, its alright, simple misunderstanding. But now it is a nomination thread!

The Bond Bug is a microcar not a hatchback. It's even classed as a motorcycle for tax and insurance purposes.

There's no reason why a microcar can't have a hatchback body style.
The microcar name refers to the cars size, not how the boot opens.

And despite it being technically classed as a motorcycle, being reasonable it's much more a car than a bike.

The centre panel flips down, thus hatching renault modus-chute style.

Hatchback is term describing an automobile design, consisting of a passenger cabin with an integrated cargo space, accessed from behind the vehicle by a tailgate or flip-up window.

You mean the Renault Modus 'Mini-MPV'?

If you are going to class a Bug as a hatchback then by your definition you'll have to include, amongst others:

Original Mini
BMW Zcoupe
All estate cars
All MPV's
All SUV's
Most saloon cars (my old Mondeo saloon, along with many other 'saloons' could fold the rear seats down giving you full access to the interior passenger compartment from the boot)
Porsche 924/944/968
Porsche 928
Porsche Cayman
etc
etc.

You've got to draw the line somewhere or these threads will just disintigrate into a chaotic argument for what fits the criterior.

Please, from now on, ONLY POST REAL HATCHES. I cant tell if it has a chute , or whatnot. If it has a fully integrated cargo space- i.e. Not a boot, but a cargo space with a lifting glass panel. It cannot be an estate, that will be later. I will accept things like the Scion tC, that is a hatchback, but with coupe-like styling. It is a coupe only if it has a separate trunk. No folding seats do not count.

-> Since everybody is going off-topic about hatches in this saloon/sedan thread. I'll go back to topic now, I'd like to know what model year would the Impala would be? Because the '96 and '06 Impala SS looks decent, the '02 look like crap, and the original look okay.

^ You mean this one:

^ Based on this model:

^ The Impala SS looks pretty decent to me, but the Caprice is on the border-line of being fugly already.

-> I think this model is fugly if you ask me:
