I hope im not the only person who thinks that the Spoilers available in GT4 are just a tad overdone, do people realy need it to be 3 foot tall? A friend was walking by the TV and said "what the hell is that monstrosity". And althugh i dont particularly like that friend, they have a point.

I think that the size available should be varied to suite the individual car. I mean, some cars, especially the small sedan segment ( 90's nissen primera etc) look dwarfed and overshadowed by these 'ironing board' resembling spoilers.

Am i the only one who has this view?

It also sucks because some cars need the downforce, but the only way to do it is to sacrifice its dignity.. i feel sorry for them, having to show it to other cars on teh grid. It would be like going out in public with a huge zit on your face...lol

Yeah some of the spoilers are just too damn big, on an S2000 for example, but for a GSX-R/4 they look great. It depends on the car, but I as well wish PD would have taken just a little more time to make them shorter, and thinner.

Yep.

And how about an option to remove the standard 'spoilers' from cars. That would be cool.

Being able to put side skirts and a front spolier would be realy cool too.. when you purchase the rear spoiler it says that it install a front spoiler also.. but i cant see one.. seems they cheaped out on that too..

As the name suggests they spoil the car.
Spoilers... Get it...

I stuck a spoiler on my '91 Fiat Panda (in GT4 not real life!) and it now looks like a large red shopping trolly.

Spoil indeed, as for the trolley... LMFAO~!!!... *cough*...It made me picture an old lady mistaking your fiat for a shopping trolley...hehehe

I tried putting one on my NSX, but it looks like a park bench... Im afraid if i drive too slow the spectators will run on track and take time out on the back of it ..lol

C'mon, we have all seen plenty of cars in our day to day lives that have big, ugly, unnecessary spoilers attached to them. PD has just included that little part of reality.

They spoil the look?

I haven't used the spoilers yet. There hasn't been any car that needs one enough to justify looking stupid so far. Of course, there are some cars that I want to look stupid, but I haven't got to tuning those yet.

oh cmon.. dont try and defend thier hideousness...If PD were realy trying to copy reality why didnt they use the option that people enjoyed looking at, instead they use this one... that makes your eyes bleed... :(

I wasn't trying to defend anything. I am just mentioning what we see every day. Ugly spoilers on cars that don't need them.

So true.. And its funny when there next to me on the traffic lights, and they take off, and muh mums 4x4 beats it...lol, they think that by putting this uber thing on the back of it makes it look like a supercar?..lol, the even funnier thing is the original car is usually realy crap... Why must they pain me?

I still get muh jollys out of watching the family 4x4 out dragging this ****box with a iron board on the back

Yes they are ugly, but they're GT spoilers. Functional and visually unappealing. A lot of "pretty" spoilers available for road cars have little effect and would not be very useful on a racetrack.

well the only nice ones are on the expensive race cars that u have to earn ur money to get it and then they are not the best when its fast and loose then its very hard to control. if u ask for my opinion I say that they kinda over did them on some but others are ok

yea i think the "one size fits all" rule doesnt really work well with some of the cars
they might look good on some, but are just horrendus on others

Well yes, the wings does look ridicilous but, I've found alots of cars that actually looks better with a wing then without.

IMHO I think you guys(girls) are missing the point the wings(spoilers) are there to help you when you race (downforce) not to make the car look good

If you need a spoiler(wing) to make your car look good then you guys are missing the total design of the car in the first place. If the factory car comes with a wing is for show only but that wing does not work :dunce: in order to really race and get downforce you need to change it.

I am sure you have seen lots of races, DTM, F1, Lemans, you name it. All the cars have BIG wings (spoilers) look at the Audi, the Bentley, even the f1 has a huge freaking wing.

:)

but they SUIT the car. we want some working spoilers that fit to the car :) because sometimes its just too big :yuck:

you would have thought that the companies who have their cars in GT4 would have said to PD that they dont want to ruin their cars by having a spoiler like the ones offered in GT4.

I only use one if i need the downforce, and once tthat car has served its purpose i revert it back to its natural state.

Yes, the spoilers are ugly on most cars. Sometimes they look cool, other times they are just plain ugly.

Would it have been that hard to include spoilers that weren't as extreme? A few that sat lower or were differently designed (like the spoilers on the '05 Mustang, Neon SRT-4, Supra RZ, RX-7, etc....)?

Although with the poor AI, no difficulty setting, and other quirks involved, I'd rather take those then spoilers that I only install on supercars like the Ford GT and then they look decent anyway.

I'd heard that the wings must clear the roof in order to provide useful downforce (so they're part of a clearer portion of the airstream and not down in the turbulence).

If that's the case, it could explain why all those wings look so damn ugly... because they have to.

Anyone confirm/deny that?

This is not NFSU. Looks are not what they are going for when they made the game, or the spoilers...When they said "customization," they mean performance-wise. that is the only reason you should be adding a spoiler to your car...

I stuck a spoiler on my '91 Fiat Panda (in GT4 not real life!) and it now looks like a large red shopping trolly.

Why does the panda need a spoiler(Im not dissing you im just asking? what ever you wanna do to your car is on you) But spoiler's not meant for a car to look COOL or better.

we want some working spoilers that fit to the car
The spoilers work!!! you can set the downforce to what ever you want. And they will fit your car if you are using the right car...TVR, RX7-8, Supra, Ford GT...sports car....

People dont get me wrong....i hear where you coming from but...spoilers=downforce not looks... :dopey:
