Before the release i was very angry there are still a roof views instead of hood views. To be honnest the views are good. But why on earht are the hood views bad on some of the best cars.

The Ferrari Italia is such a nice car but i don't like to drive it becaus of the stupid roof view, same foor the Maserati or the Alfa Romeo C8 or something. those roofcams are very bad. its a real shame they did't make hood cams. i can't remember a race game whitout hoodviews. even GTA4 has them.:ouch:

Oh GT4 didn't have bonet cam either, they were roof cam too ;)

This is one of the things that annoys me the most with all GT games, why can't we just get a decent bonet cam view for every car, it would be so simple.

Thing is I've been driving from the frikn' bumper for so long now I'm sorta used to it and I can't honestly see them patching in a bonet view, they must have something against it or it would already be in the game...

Your imagining things, they look great.

These are not the droids you are looking for.

My best guess is it puts you too close to ugly textures on the standard cars. The hoods on many cars already look bad just from the ****down angles, imagine literally being inches from some kind of hood texture... it could be the biggest, uggliest, blockiest thing you have seen in a long time right in your face the whole race.

if someone ever meets Yamauchi, or some PD member. will you please ask the question why they don't use hoodviews. i really want to know!

To be honest graphics aren't the be all and end all of a driving game for me, I don't care if the bonet in front of me looks crap i'd just like it to be there so I can aim the nose of my car at the apex, it's really sad if that is the reason why, you're quite likely correct though.

While it's true that graphics aren't necessarily the most important things, glaringly bad ones are distracting to say the least. PD has limited access to taking photos of standard cars (no photo travel and limited zoom in photo mode) due to their potential ugliness, so it does seem quite natural the bonnet view limit follows the same ideals.

I wish it wern't so though... in order to make ends meet with Cr I have t buy a lot of standard cars (so much for the much louded don't use them if you don't like them) and I am continually frustrated by the invisible front on my car hitting things in bumper view.

i agree whit Mike. i can see your point Devander, But the car's i Mentioned i my first post are even Premiums. Some Premiums have a hoodview. or at least a better roofview. so it can be done. but for some reason the put the camara on the backend of the roof

You wont drive the car because of a roof view?

How about using the cockpit view...... which is the best view anyway.

i agree with you mate. I drive with the hood view without a bonnet.

But tried the roof cam, it feels like you are in a truck

The roof cam is stupid at times, if you racing the small Lipo cup in roof view and you go right upto the back of the car infront and dead on his bumper your cars is like 20 to 30% wider in this view even tho its the same car, its all messed up. They need to have a dedicated bumper view, roof view is the pits and out of scale. Someone take images of this if you can it looks so stupid.

if it not feels right, yes. yeah cockpit is the best, but not even all cars have one. so Roof/Hood cam for me and the cockpit feels diffrent compared to prologue, not in a good way. can't explain it. something feels odd.

cars infront of you look like giants?

i have seen this happen a few times, kinda annoying

I always called this view "trucker cam" :)

And yeah, it is so far off that I can't stand to use it. Why can all the other sims or even just arcade racers have the hood cam at the proper level but PD with all their obsessions regarding details can't manage it. Always bugged me, but it gets more annoying as they have had plenty of time to fix it and have never bothered to do so.

Some cars have a great roof view, with the hood filling the whole screen from left to right, with the camera quite low, quite close to the hood. To me, this looks like a hood cam instead of a roof cam.

On other cars it's way to high, with lots of space between the hood and the left and right side of the screen. Sometimes you can't even see the hood.

I don't get the logic behind this, why so different?

Many of us happen to like roof cam. It's certainly easier to adjust to than chase cam. It would be nice to have the option for hood cam in lieu of interiors for Standards, but we don't know what PD's plans are. They may have some surprises for us.

What about lap times guys?

I always felt that bumper cam is best ( I find cockpit view to be distracting lol)

But in GT5 I am quite pleased with the roof cam (even though what ppl said about bad texture is true)...It still gives a great sense of speed and I was able to hit apexes quite well.

I mainly use the Roof Cam, but I have to say that some cars have bad roof cam. Try the Renault Super 5, you can't see anything of the car...

Obviously somebody in Polyphony always ride the car as a roof luggage.

Probably doesn't fit inside the car.

I hate the roof cam, i dont know why PD use such stupid and unconventional POV. Hood view is a must these day, just like cockpit view in every car (even a generic one).
