Shamelessly selfish thread i'm afraid.

I'm not in a position to be able to afford a complete Sky Sports package just so I can see complete races for 50% or so of this season. I'm not complaining, but when there is seriously sometimes only one race not shown in full on the BBC in a given month...anyway this has been discussed in an older thread.

Many are aware of the less legitimate alternatives, but live online streams are generally pretty bad and latest news today is that the famous B** T****** tracker that seemed to return results first (although still usually several hours after the race) may well be blocked by all major UK ISPs. This sets a worrying precedent, but that's another story.

I'm aware of the AUP and don't seek to discuss these things here, but was wondering if any other UK folks in a similar position could PM me. Then any further discussion can take place outside of GTP :)

Can't help you out but I'll echo how frustrating it can be to follow motorsports sometimes. Between the BBC, ITV, MotorsTV, ESPN, Eurosport and Premier Sports, it's an expensive hobby (not that I fork out for that lot anymore), and you kinda resent it sometimes when the best you get is delayed coverage or a highlights show a week later in the middle of the night because YET more football was on, or even worse Internationally boring cycling, not to mention pointless repeat showings of bland films that nobody ever watches anyway.

I've not been having problems with said tracker :) ...I too can't really afford Sky but luckily I have a friend who works for them and he slipped me a Sky ID :sly: Sky Go quality beats streams but I wish I could watch all of the races on my TV.

I don't have any problems now but I read today that the BPI and others have won a high court ruling which will probably force ISPs to block access to that site in the UK. There are always proxies however...

But anyway, the issue I already had with that is that it only refreshes once every so often and sometimes several hours after the end of the race. Add to that the download time (even with a fast connection) and you are still lucky to see the race on a Sunday. Kinda hoping someone has found a better solution, perhaps not having to wait for such trackers to pick the races up :)
