Interesting idea ..I would be up for that but it all depends on my work schedule and my regular trips to london etc..

But if i where to come i could bring 4 DS2's 2 GT3's TV's not sure possibly 2 sets and 1 copy of GTC and 2 ilink cables..and 2 PS2's

As for location not sure what would suit London's a definate no no too expensive for **** down there
Maybe Liverpool Newcastle or somewhere like that..

I will probably bring one other person with me as there is a lack of GT fans among my freinds and the ones i used to race are living in Quebec now ..So it's highly doubtful that they would make it allthough they would mess their pants to come:lol:

But if TV's are a problem people that are interested could all chip in to hire the TV's needed ...Im sure some rental company would be ok with that sort of arrangment (as long as we give em a good story)...

I noticed that you said again in your first line of your post ...Have you guys done this before or have you planned one but it never took off..?

Later
Pedro :)

Liverpool ?...........  jeez all the damn scousers would nick the PS2's , TV's and even the cars  ... 5 mins after arriving

I put you on the list ;) maybe a month down the line we can have a good bit of interest, i have posted this on GT3T , Racing Line and here ....... will post at GTF next , the more the merrier :D

lets see how it goes

Good point about liverpool (just a thought)

I suppose Glasgow would be out of the question also ...We would have all the glesga neds sayin "gies yer PS2's ya bunch a dobbers or yer gitting chibbed

Aye my work is somewhat unpredictable at the momment ..A bit of a pain in the butt but nothings ever simple in life eh (god i wish i had a 9/5 job :)

I was wondering would this be a overnight stay at a hotel with function suite ?

I think that would be a good plan ..Maybe we would get a good deal on the function suite if we are staying there ..Just a thought..

I will ask around my somewhat small band of GT addict's to see if they would be up for this ..

Later ;)

Looks like the UK GT3 community consists mostly of scared little kids who can't leave home because either their mommas don't let them or they don't have the cash to go. Whassupwithdat? Can't you even get one iLink session going? We'll be having our fourth session the weekend of 1 June and we've got a group of 7 Dutch drivers now (expecting no. 8 soon), and this time a bunch of Germans (about 6) are coming over to join us. There may be more of them if Famine can make it, as he seems to be very popular among them. :D

Come on people, get your act together! :D Or come and have a taste in the Netherlands, I'm sure that after you've tried it you want more and the UK iLink community will be growing in no time. In Germany it's immensely popular, they even have an iLink event search engine on their site. :D

It's not as easy as you make it sound Arwin (well not for us anyway) we have 4 kids to find a sitter for and funds are a bit too tight to make a journey overseas just to play gt3 for a day .

I'm looking up for a cheap venue here in the UK at the moment and hopefully find somewhere for us to all have a few races and some beers sometime soon

This ilink meet is not getting much interest pitty really ..Im sure it would be a good buzz..

I would love to come over to the Netherlands to race you guys this month ..But i have deadlines to meet this month ..

Hopefully we can get something sorted out soon ;)

I would love to come to the Netherlands too

Maybe next time :D

Well, good chance this is going to be a great succes, and some guys who may not make it this time definitely want to come the second time, so it looks like a repeat around 1 september should be very likely.

I know about the kids, annoying aren't they? :D Though from what I've heard at least one of them could be brought along easily enough. :D I just have five cats, they can still be left alone for a night easily enough and are a lot easier to let the neighbour feed them. The money shouldn't be too bad though - flights to Amsterdam are ridiculously cheap and the trainride isn't much either. I've got some spare beds, rooms and lots of space to bunk, so that'd be just about all the costs you have. Just thought I'd mention. :D

Of course, you could also come separately - this event one of you comes over, the other one looks after the kids, the next event vice versa. :D Then again, I could really imagine the two of you wanting to come over together and share the experience.

In the ideal world, my gf would come over to your place and look after the kids while you two (or three) come over for some racing, as my gf doesn't particularly like GT3 or crowds of people she doesn't know, but she loves kids. :D

Yeah, in an ideal world ...

Anyhow, I do sure hope the UK iLink community kicks off. I'd sure be hop over sometime for a drive over there no problem. Maybe ask some folks at the Man Un. Campus if they know of a space - if they do it's bound to be cheap. :D Last time I was in Manchester I illegally bunked on the floor of one of the campus residents I met on the internet - their dinner consisted every day of 1 pound pizzas :odd: - I bet they did that to save money so that they could go into a pub at 11pm to drink two or three pints only to be kicked out again at 11.15pm. (that was in 1993 or 1994)

Anyway, by my guess the expenses for such a weekend could amount to as little as 60-70 quid for the both of yers - sitter not included. So something to keep in mind for late august/ early september then ...

I posted it at GT3Times, and i will post it here too:

I don't think transportation would be a major problem for me.

Hope your I link meet will be a succes Arwin 👍 If we had a bigger house we'd sure host one ourselves but the 6 of us are cramped as it is ( need a bloody mansion  ) and there would be no excuse for a sitter then :D

Next one, me and Ron will try our best to make it over ( without any brats! :D ) Got a sitter in mind but it'll sure take a lot of bribery :sly:

I like the idea of doing it in the city (Manchester that is ;) ) and have been looking on the net for possible venues but I'm not sure as to how long this meet should be for ? I think maybe a 12 hour stint would be plenty, for us race and socialize .

I've also been toying with Pedro's idea of a hotel overnighter that has a room we can use ... would we all get along in real life though? that's the question :D

So I'm thinking a nice big pub in Manchester somewhere (B&B maybe, for the drinkers :D) that will let us bring all our stuff and rent a room and drink their beer for 12 hours ( moderately of course, wouldn't want to see 12 cars on the track  ) I'm doing a checklist at the moment of amount of people seriously interested and what equipment etc...

I feel the ball is rolling at last though :D

Also I wanna shut Ron up who keeps saying he'll wipe the floor with ya's ( in a nice friendly way that is ) :D

Can't do it Famine it's too short notice. Thanks for the offer though 👍

Hey ron you know i am interested mate were ever and how ever it is possible:D when ever you are ready i will be ready but you know i wont win :( its not the winning its the taking part at the end of the day and i will enjoy a good ilink comp:D Laters mate

No worries man , best way to enter is to send your PS2, GT3 and any accessories/games over to me and you're in ;) :D

thats what Tosk did for us down here after the Aus GP Kel,
we all stayed at the hotel the night before (and got in some practice ;), also a few  ) and had a great time the next day, the comp ran from around 9.00am to about 5.00pm

Id be there if i could, to promptly get flogged i reckon:D

Cheers for that Bollocks

Guess I should move my arse and get ringing round and find out some prices, this GT3 habit aint been cheap so far so least cost possible is best :( Shame that, coz I could have done with a night at the Ritz or summat :irked:

Maybe a cheapy hotel in Las Blackpool instead ???? Someone throw me a freakin bone here :p :D

I wish we could get to do something like that but it looks like we might have to wait a while:( There is people here and they say they can do it but nothing ever comes of it  If we could get something together i would love to be a part of it;)
Me ron and kel do i link and i think it would be excellent if we could get a few more together:D

laters;)

Hey, name your time and place and I can do it. After May 31st even more so, as my contract expires. :D

All round to wez's then? :p

I wish we all could but with me having two screeming kids and one hell of a crazy dog then i think that idea would be a no no:(

I think that blackpool seems a very good idea but on the outskirts as for close to the pleasure beach would be costly:(

Come on girls and guys lets get some ideas going because we will never get any where saying nothing;)

Done a bit of 6 player I-link over the last couple of months.... Have a share in a firewire hub and leads, and might be up for a meet depedant on location/time/money/mood of GF at the time...

Only trouble is, would I really want to travel all that from Exeter way to get my arse spanked by you quick guys???!?!?!?

Put my name on the list, and let me know.....

Cheers,

Rich.

Pasted from GT3Times ...

9 UK folk interested  is that seriously interested enough to put a few quid into the costs for this, and travel? :-?

How long would you expect the event to last for? are we talking a day ( then back home to sleep) or an overnight thing with ongoing battles all night ? :D
I wouldn't expect anyone to travel from London or Scotland for just a few hours racing :-?

As for a venue... well I was hoping Famine might have been back with his ideas but he hasn't, and we can't accomodate you guys here at our house sorry, what would the neighbours think! and not to mention 4 brats getting in the way  :P

I was looking at holiday houses to let for 2 days but they are too exepnsive at £200+ just for 2 days  even splitting the costs that's too much!

The sooner we find somewhere and get agreed on some things then the better coz I wanted to do a UK I-link first before going Amsterdam, get some pracitice in for the big event 8) we dont want to all turn up there I-link virgins  So if anyone can think of somewhere or better still find a place then get checking dates and stuff and let us know!

Lets get this show on the road ...

I would like to join but can't go overseas. I have seen another post on this site about a club that is going to have a tournament in the U.S.A , So all of you poor boys like myself should try to make the show and show your stuff.

I don't know if the interest is still there from anyone around here, but check out the latest on this here
