It might be a little early for this thread as GT5 isn't out yet, so I guess for the moment it is pure speculation. I was wondering if the jump would be instantaneous as soon as GT5 comes out or will someone b-spec all GT5 cars beforehand.

Thoughts past, present and potential UKGTP'ers

Is it too early to even speculate?

I thought there was a problem in LAN'ing PS3s? I'm sure I remember the Indigo one mentioning some kind of hardware/software problem. Obviously if private rooms are available then we can do it through on-line, but I'd like to think that will still occur in one physical location, rather than everyone sitting at home for the whole weekend!

It will happen, once GT5 is out properly, everyone has a PS3 and networking issues are dealt with :)

Yeah, who are you going to molest if we're all sitting in our own, seperate rooms? And how are you going to get your shortbread to us? And Captain Destructo will just have to break things in his own house which won't be as much fun for him.

I think the main issue will be how many PS3s we can get our hands on. Currently, I supply 2 PS2s, and Famine supplies ~3. If we use PS3s, that number goes down to 1 each.

Milford - Its too orangey for crows.

We'll (probably) have two PS3s by the next LAN as I'm planning a new arrival in the next few months. Even still, I doubt you'd get the amount needed for a 5+5 LAN battle!

Also, I'll bet Famine hasn't mentioned that there will be only one LAN in 2009...

I have one PS3, and my brother has 2 PS3's so 2 PS3's from me certainly isn't out of the question but I see the problem, I guess it depends on how many PS3's are floating about come GT5 time.

You mean, one LAN at your house ;)

The results aren't down to me!

Ok, the May LAN is no issue. However, there's a fairly large event happening in November, and my stress levels/finances won't cope with that AND an October LAN. If there's some way of having a second LAN in say, August, then that'll be fine. Famine is going to argue with me about this, and probably declare in my absence to ignore me as I'm talking out of my behind, but I can categorically tell you all now that there won't be an October LAN at Chez Fambicle.

Ah, would said large event be a certain someone/people getting hitched?

2009 Christmas LAN anyone? :D We can celebrate GT5 release! ;)

I've got a venue here if need be. The only problems are it isn't very central to England and accomidation requires driving to.

There are no problems in LAN'ing PS3's AFAIK. I managed to make 3 PS3's communicate with each other without a problem. ==> Surround gaming ( peripheric view) and play (race) with 3 different players against eachother. This was done with GT4.

I think Famine had a problem networking the backwards compatible PS3's (60gb version) to the PS2's. A network comprising of just PS3's shouldn't be a problem.

Correct - you can't have LAN play using a mix of PS2s and PS3s. I've not tried just PS3s 'cos I only have one...

When I figure out exactly what it is I'm doing wrong trying to get PS3s on the same network joining online games at the same time, we might be able to get some GT5P (or even GT5!) going...

Ooh, can GT5P be LAN linked? :D

We'll find out if, as and when our second PS3 arrives and we've managed to beg borrow or steal a second copy of GT5P :)

Here's an idea. Combine the Nurburgring trip with a LAN with the Dutchies, in Dutchieland?
