Unable to update avatar

Whenever I try to update my avatar with a new custom image, I get the following error;

"This JPEG image has the incorrect file extension."

or

"This PNG image has the incorrect file extension."

Yet the file is a .GIF saved directly from another member's avatar! Any ideas what's causing this?

Attach the file in question. Let's have a look.
 
Therein lies another problem;

"Upload Errors
avatar93207_15.gif:
This JPEG image has the incorrect file extension. "

All other images work fine though! Could it be the file name?
 
That would be my guess. Try a "save as" in your program and try again.

Give us a link to the image in question and I bet well get to the bottom of this mystery.

Even without the help of those meddling kids and their dog.
 
Upload the file and post it as said. 👍

Could it be that the file's name has ".gif" in it but it's actually another file type?
Have you checked the file's properties?

Hi there. How do you use your own avatar instead of the default ones. I go to the avatar edit section and there is no option to paste an image link....Cheers...D...

Once you have 100 posts, the option for custom avatars opens.
 
...as it says in the sticky post Custom Avatar and Title Requirements located at the top of this board. 👍
