“First, add lightness. If you make a car more powerful it will go faster on the straights; if you make it lighter, it will go faster everywhere.” - Colin Chapman, Lotus founder

*If it was under 1000kg when you bought it, this is the place.

If you had to buy Weight Reduction A, B, C Common for your GT6 ride, it was too heavy in the first place.

Talk about, discuss your passion for the naturally lightweight cars in Gran Turismo.
• Premium, Standard, Premium/Standard, 15th Anniv, Prize Cars
• GT1, GT2, Everything in between, GT6

*someone can make an Under 1000kg race car appreciation thread if they want. This is purely about road cars.

I leave it just by saying this.
Fast as 🤬

edit: lol "fast as wham!"

The Caterham 7 is a blast to drive. Much better handling in GT6 than in GT5.
Also the LCC Rocket and any version of the Lotus Elise are brilliant fun too. My dad once owned a black Elise 111R and I loved it when he took me to school in it. :)

I agree with the handling. I set it up like the Caterham 160. Big fun.

The '71 Europa was my birthday car. Although the '71 no longer in the GT series, I have the Europa 15th Anniv, '68 & '72 Europas in its place. They are my weapons of choice in the Historic Racing Car Cup. They're also great driving along Sierra.

The X-Bow and Rocket are awesome to race in each of the Super Career Mode Challenges. Display "Off" and race.

I totally agree, the Europas are brilliant also. I also love the Lotus Elan too, but its a shame that car wasn't made premium because in my mind it's the first British lightweight sports car that had everything. Convertible, nimble, stunning looks etc.

Suzuki GSX-R? Caterham? KTM? Rocket? Those are track day cars. And the Suzuki isn't even road legal, its just a concept that was never put into production.

What about some real, common road cars under 1000kg, like:

Citroen C3
Opel Tigra
Ford Focus
Mazda MX5/Miata
Fiat 500 Abarth
VW Lupo
Honda Civic
Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg
Peugeot 106 Rallye

Alpine A110
If you are going small engine lightweight and rear wheel drive why not go the whole Banana and put the engine way out the back too.
Must be feeling a bit Francophilic today, as the Hommell Berlinette R/S Coupe is quite good fun, for a tame MR car.

Takes a thread like this to make a TVR seem like a big tub (GRP of course) of lard!

For sure. I have a slammed '12 5 speed Gin Black Metallic Vitz, Opel Corsa and even an Insight '99.

Oops now I read that it has to be under 1000kg stock (no weight reduction) therefore most of the cars in my list dont really pass your requirements...

The LCC Rocket is in my opinion, one of the best cars I've ever experienced. The response and engine are just magical. The KTM feels soul-less after driving the Rocket. I should also mention the near 1-1 hp-kg ratio is insane. It absolutely smokes the 97T around Tsukuba Circuit. Oh and installing NOS makes it a complete killer.

Miata. Any gen. Though they are utterly worthless in terms of straight line speed...that or I'm a terrible tuner.
