during a shuffle race on line i was racing a Spanish player round the Nordschleife, we raced for 31 minutes 3 laps very close and the lead changed, each time i tried to pass he would block the line and bump me, When i finally made a pass and put some clear air between us he gave up and left the room. In doing so he lost me all my race credits and xp points, as you can't collect on your own. Im rather annoyed, why couldn't i collect my points when the race was started with two and i completed it?
 
Welcome to the world of online gaming, have you ever played a wager match on Black Ops? Full of the same; as soon as someone is losing, they rage quit (quit the game through the PS button or turn their PS3 off). Same kept happening to my brother in Pro Evo, same happens basically anywhere when someone is losing... Best advice is to not race one-on-one, or find a lobby of reputable racers.
 
That is the reason why I avoid multiplayer gaming. It's so frustrating when you're better than your opponent and he quits and you don't get the credit for.
 
There's a simple solution... avoid public rooms...

Do the GTPlanet qualifier, get a GTP tag, make friends with other GTPlanet racers, race with like minded and trusted racers in private lobbies.
 
just look at the top F1 teams, Flavio Briatore got booted for cheating,
there should be ways to collect points if an opponent quits but that again could be cheated by having two people entering and quitting continulosly to ramp points

Sorry to hijack thread, but I too am sick o this crap. How do you join private lobbies to avoid this? All I see is the "open lobby."
 
Apologies to any clean driving Spaniards here, but I remember when I used to play PGR4 online, the Spanish were usually the most predictably unsporting and dirty drivers you could play against.
Closely followed by the Italians :lol:

I mean no offense or wish to cast generalizations on an entire nation, but this is just how it was and maybe still is.
 
Coming from a PC gamer -- every modern PC game I've ever multiplayed online: if your opponent leaves, you win. Any other way is stupid.
 
I had a simular thing i was out gunned on BHP in a one on one race but the guy couldn't handle the car, so i would pass him often as he would spin on bends, then he would get by me on the straights , towards the very end he whacked me into the wall knowing the turns he can't make where coming up and i would pass him and win. So i quit as i don't race boozo's plus he couldn't get the credits or XP, makes no odds to me the £ or xp both i can get elsewhere, but to be abusive and want rewards for it , well that don't sit well in my book. I wasn't bothered about winning it was the fun that mattered, but for some winning is everything when your hormones are kicking in (laughing) I think it is just kids that have not mentally developed yet to accept defeat

I feel dumb for asking this, but how do you do the qualifier? Where is it? And yea, I searched. I also went thru all the tags on top of this page.

Yes he did. I'm with the OP on this one, it really gets me pissed off when people do **** like that. Spin you on purpose, punt you, abandon races, etc.

I didn't know private rooms existed, again, any idea where to go to take this qualifier?

You know Spanish guys can't drive too well. Take Fernando Alonso for example...:O :)

yeh i did, and if you don't whine about these things then PD wont change anything. It would be fair if this happened that you could carry on the race and get your points even if the other guy bails.

yeh i agree although i thought there were 4 of us entered, when the race started there was just me and fernando:)

Randomly going into a public game of course you will run into people who do not race as cleanly or follow the same rules as you. As far as online games go, GT5 by far has more adult-like people (imo) then any other I've came across.
I know whenever I see/listen to people play Call of Duty Black Ops (online) 90% of all games are listening to cuss words and other nonsense.

I went into an online SSR7 track to test the Supra I finally built. It was a couple friends who obviously were newer to the game with Veyrons. I immediately knew the room would be fun when I was on the tail of one Veyron and he could not pull away from me.
I went and got my Veyron and we all three lined up.

Comments heard in order-

"What the?!" "Holy ****" Dude, he's just pulling away from me!" "He's no longer on my map!"

I've added this fella to friends and he said he obviously needs to do some tuning. We gonna race again, if he still has his Veyron tuned incorrectly I'll tell him about this website.

I enjoy meeting people online. I apologize if my original comment came across too snarky, I'd just never complain about online games with randoms. 👍

Chance some will be jerks, chance ya meet some cool people.
 
i think what annoyed me was the length of this particular race, 31 minutes was a lot to come away with no credit or XP. Im happy in general with the online races I have just spent the last 3 hours since the original post in a public group racing a great bunch of guys race after race. tracks and bhp changed regularly and it was great fun.
 
You need to get some like mided racers on your friends list... then you can set up a lounge in the 'community' section and only your friends will be abel to see it and join.

Alternatively, look for races that interst you in the racing forum here... try and get the organiser on your friends list and then you'll be able to join their private lounge.

Public lobbies are a bit of a lottery... if you do have to join them to race look for ones with well defined classes of cars (JGTC500 for example)... you stand more chance of getting a decent and fair race.
 
This is why I seldom play anything online. So may other online gamers are so cowardly, and that goes for all types of games, FIFA, CoD, NFS: shift and probably GT5 as well.
 
The problem is way to many people out there think that they had been born with a wheel in thier hands, when in truth they had only been minding it for someone else
