I was just packing for uni, and I wondered if there was anyone else going off to university soon or even now. I leave on Sunday, but my room has internets so I can still stay on GTP :) Perhaps not PSN, but GTP nonetheless. I'll be going to Bangor on the coast of north Wales, I'm pretty excited when everyone else is stressed, I'm ready with a day to spare bar food shopping, but there's not much point buying food to go off before you leave!

So how is everyone else finding things (if there is anyone else) and I wondered how current students are getting on all around the (GT)Planet.

I am currently in my third day of living in student accommodation, although freshman week starts on Monday. I had been very excited about the whole experience and am currently thoroughly enjoying it.

My room came with a standard 2mb connection but I bought a 10mb upgrade for£50 for the year. I am going to buy a router so that I can get my PS3 online, because I bought NFS shift today. :)

I've actually stayed in the bangor student accommodation before albeit some time ago. Good luck to everyone else who is moved in, or moving in. 👍

Excellent, glad to hear you're having fun :). I'm riding my hopes on the uni letting me get on PSN, major bummer if I can't, I might have to be... *shudders* social. I don't need a router really, I'll use laptop more for work then for social, and if im working, I'll only want my PS3 for music so it's going to be a no brainer, I won't be tempted away by people on PSN or by playing online.

I've basically finished packing now to, I have my money sorted (and a student bank account being opened in the next week) last thing to be packed will be the PS3 just incase I can't get online. I've also done a CV to apply for jobs as soon as I arrive, literally on the day, I need to get ahead of the competition although alot of people don't seem to want to work.

Infact, if you stayed in Bangor accomodation, you might know if they were allowing consoles online, although it's a big ask.

I moved in a month ago, university in Norway starts earlier (August 17th). So far it has been an amazing time, easily this month has been better than the past 3 years. I got everything; a big enough appartment, one great roommate (add to that she's Asian, and I'm a sucker for Asian women), one not so tidy roommate, got cabel TV, got internet (fast as well), got my Fender with me (Bram goes no place without his Fender Strat!), my computer, it's just brilliant.

So far we've already recieved projects to work on at school. I've started a Bachelor degree in Structural Design at Universitet i Agder (UiA), the only school in Norway that has a degree in which you can afterwards take a Master in Structural Engineering and Architecture. We've started with Google's sketch-up, an amazing little program, and next year AutoCAD will be around the corner.

Our first big project is designing and building our own busstop place. We're placed into groups of 3 and we each come up with our own ideas. Next week we'll probably start with the design drawing in computer software before we'll build a 1:20 scaled model. Got to know 5 guys really well already, and they're amazing chaps!

So far University has been both a challenge and a joy. Not only does it put you in the challenge for the study itself, but also in your social life and your capabilities to be independent. I'm a shallow guy, but I'm already noticing my evolvement.

For sure these 3 years will bring a good challenge, but I can't wait to grab them by the horns! (as we say it) 👍

Going back for my second year on Sunday!

Can not wait!

I'm a first year student at the University of Mcmaster...and so far i like it :D...very friendly people and beautiful environment

I am very jealous of you guys! I graduated at the start of July, and the economy being what it is I've sat on my... bottom ever since! No I lie, I did do a placement but they weren't paying me, you're all going to graduate at a much better time. Uni was easily the best three years of my life so far, you tend to meet far more like-minded people than at school simply because you all actually want to be there, and yeah, it's just epic, I wish I could go back!

Actually having said that I'm applying for an MA at the Royal College of Art, probably not quite the same thing as a BA at a not so prestigious Uni (UCA Farnham in Surrey), but hey, I can still be a student for another two years.

Funny thing is, I had way more money when I was a student than I do now, back then I didn't have to consider 'hmm, should I buy this game, should I not?' because the loan took care of it, the last game I bought was, er, possibly Killzone 2 and I can't buy anything until GT5 comes out in case I don't have the cash when it finally hits the shelves.

Anyway, I digress, Uni is epic fun, you'll meet amazing people (even if you only meet them in your third year) that you'll keep in contact with, learn loads, and yeah. Enjoy it.

I'm at the University of Chester, at the smaller Warrington Campus.

It's brilliant, quite frankly! But being relatively small (C.1200 students) the campus is a bit of a fishbowl, everyone seems to know what everyone else is doing. There are no secrets!

You're not to far from me then, infact i'll be in chester next wednesday briefly to get the train back to uni after my girlfriends, parents 25th wedding anniversary.

2nd year rolling inm, Aerospace Engineering (I both love and hate the name...) at Swansea University :D

Haven't moved into my new house yet cause my flatmates are all being lazy getting back to the Tawe. Moving in this weekend/Monday, gonna be good laugh.

But I warn you, once you leave University Accomodation you enter the world of bills, it's not nice.

I basically live in my uni town all the time and don't go home often, as I work up here. Getting ready to start my second year - of two - of a Masters degree in Media & Journalism.

On the plus side, I live in a great flat in the centre of town, with a friend I've known for roughly 21 years, with all the amenities I could desire. On the minus side, I might be a bit late paying for my course fees as I've just bought a car...

Goin back next monday to Coventry to move into my accomodation. Nightlife aint as good as good ol Manchester, but can't wait to start my second year of automotive design, and oh the girlz:drool:

It's so cool when you don't have to live with your parents. Anythin goes:dopey:

Living at home with family is such a cock-block!

Word(s) of advice:

Enjoy the hell out of university, once you graduate it all goes down hill. I am so bored now that I've graduate and wish everyday I could go back to school. I'm jealous of all you folks who get to go back...although I'm not jealous of the amount of money you are having to pay.

Oh and if you ever get a chance to study abroad jump on it, studying at Oxford was the coolest experiences of my life.

Just starting? Crazy. Classes started about a month ago here. Of course, I now reside permanently in my college town, so no troublesome packing for me.

Classes started for us about a month ago as well, most of my classes getting their first wave of exams out of the way. I'm a fifth year senior, and if I can recommend anything, its just getting out there and hanging out with your classmates. It wasn't until recently that I took my own advice, and I'm enjoying it.

But, being done in December will be nice. At least to take a rest for a few months, that will be a major relief.

Whatever you do, take all your series of classes in order. For instance, do Math 1, English 1, and Science 1. The next semester, do M2,E2,S2, etc. I made the mistake of doing my English and Humanities first, so now I'm going to have like a wasted semester of only a math class before I can move on.

I'm quite fortunate as the course assumes you have no previous knowledge (Accounting) yet I have an A level in it, and business studies, so I can breeze through year 1 with no real hurdles giving me time to be a little more social and whatnot. I'm going to try and stay on at university through the summer if I can get myself a job to see me through, rather then come home, lose my job and have to re-apply next year. If I'm fortunate enough to be offered extra hours over summer, it will be pretty awesome.

I'm currently a freshman at Lake Sumter Community College going for my AA in engineering. I figured I'd save myself the gas and the stress of going to a big university first and start off at the community college. Plus they have a direct connect to UCF program which is where I want to go so it should work out nice.

I have arrived at Bangor Uni, set up everything, all working fine. Good times :D It's pretty awesome, I got everyone in the hall together (bar one anti-social who hasn't shown their face) and the rest of us got to know each other. Excited and pleased to some it up :)

I'm now in my second day at Leeds :)

Internet is all set up, although they decided to block the MAC address of my router by the looks of it :( Oh well, I'll just have to stay tethered for now. Hot water doesn't work (yet), so I had an ice cold shower this morning. Oh, and we've just discovered that there's water dripping from the ceiling in the kitchen.

...but other than that, all is good :p

 Pretty good start, eh? :p

I've discovered that my mother has passed her cleaning manner onto me. I try to keep the appartment tidy, but my 1,000 lbs roommate keeps messing up the bathroom. Also, she never turns off the light, NEVER. If there's one thing I cannot stand, it's people leaving lights on in the house. You may catch me coming home in a very happy mood, but once I see the lights on in the bathroom when nobody's in there:

Agreed on all counts. I never realised how much I missed uni until I left - so I'm now doing another degree at a different uni which is great - but it's also costing me a fortune.

Siarad Cymraeg?

Call every North Walian you see a Gog, and beware anyone offering a good time, North Wales style.

The key to a cold shower is to initially splash your self with cold water, then jog on the spot while you soap up, then rinse with cold water. Don't worry, it's a technique that comes with experience.

In other news, Virgin Media aren't sending our router till the end of the week, this private renting malarkey is a joke, give me student halls any day!

Oh. My. God.

If I can't remember yesterday (the first night back, presumably in the bar), it must have been good, right? RIGHT?

Man O' Man, I wish I was out of high school, I hate this. Not studying what I want to study really sucks.

From my experience yes. Though if you're anything like me you probably had a lot of "important" and "deep" conversations that you don't remember a word of...

Oh, I've had plenty of those before. Usually about things my care cup is fairly empty on.

I'll put £15 on one of last night's being 'the working conditions for child labourers in northern Cambodia'.
