This might be a really inane thing to start a thread about, but I can't help but think the rev counters in GT5 are unnecessary - by which I mean too much RED, above the rev limiter which isn't even used.
It just seems silly having a rev counter that goes to 12k on a car where the limiter is around 8 - 8.5k.
Maybe it's just me o_O

Well if PD was to take a page from Forza and code transmission damage in to the equation of things, this would make sense. But since there is no penalty for over revving or downshifting poorly, it literally doesn't matter in my opinion.

Even sound wise it's bad since you don't hear minor differences in the exhaust according to when you shift. Many cars can backfire, but sound wise, there's nothing to match it with the visual. No pops or anything.

I'm not one to go around and constantly complain about crap in this game, since it's all well established. But I still can't get over how dead and somewhat boring every single exhaust sound is. They just sound like recordings. They should be partially synthesized dynamic recordings. Meaning there sound be popping sounds when there are backfires, engine strain when you over rev. etc.

It's not just you. It's a minor thing that most people have just resigned themselves that PD sadly isn't going to do anything about it.

It's a shame really, because in every GT up to and including 4, they changed with every car and tuning, accordingly, and had just the right amount of red.
Oh well... let's hope for engine damage etc. with GT6 :)
