There is a company starting out called Major League Gaming(MLG) that has already held one tournament in New York City. The league is all about console gaming and has drawn quite a bit of players in already. The cash prize is always worth your trip if you win too.
There are currently four games on the official roster of their 11 city tour. They are Halo, Gran Turismo 3, Soul Calibur 2 and ESPN Football. The more competitors that show up, the better time you have and the higher cash prize. The MLG is also very open to suggestions on new games to be added and rule changes. If you have a decent following behind you, almost anything can happen if it is a good idea.
