Starting 4:00 BST a special nascar seasonal themed online racing event will be held. Users who compete and win at these events will be awarded 2010 racing suit and helment of Nascar Star Jeff Gordon for the use with their in game drivers as a prize.

Looks interesting. However, the news states it starts at 5.00 CET (GMT+1). Hope you don't need to be there from the start to compete.

The online service of Gran Turismo 5 will undergo maintenance during the following hours:

Start：08/23/2011 10:00 EST
Finish：08/23/2011 16:00 EST

(2)
Start：08/29/2011 22:00 EST
Finish：08/29/2011 23:00 EST

(3)
Start：09/06/2011 10:00 EST
Finish：09/06/2011 18:00 EST

Start：09/13/2011 10:00 EST
Finish：09/13/2011 18:00 EST

During the maintenance, you will not be able to connect to any of the online services.

I hope that Its just like our current seasonals where you just do an event whenever you want.

But hopefully this one will be more than a week long, due to the fact that I'm getting on a plane to go on holiday at the exact time this event starts. :facepalm:

Probably the X2010 for Vettel! Its gonna be tough. Loeb, Im guessing a rally event :). GT5 is lacking on rally events.
 
I hope a Top Gear seasonal event will follow, & awards you the stig's outfit
 
A lot of the real world drivers have their overalls and helmets if you use their cars in arcade mode, PD just have to put them in the ones you can use. I doubt rally helmets will be in, would be weird having an open faced helmet in a F1 car.

Imagine an event with the really old cars. The uniform to win would be air pilot leather jacket and a leather "helmet" :-)

No it doesn't :dunce: Gran Turismo Rally, Loeb Challenge, Track Editor and arcade is good!
 
I hope it's the Daytona 500, they have the track but none of the famous races that take place on it (24 hours of Daytona anyone?). :(

Not like the Nascar challenges,but more like the Vettel Suzuka!
 
Sonoma(Infineon) would be a nice add for this event..since NASCRAP races there. and it'd be cool if PD had Spa to see the tanks running through Eau Rouge to Les Combes!!!!

My only hope is for a new custom programmed smarter AI (tuned for Nascar Event) and not just run of the mill repeat old seasonal formula.

Would be nice if PD implemented a lively Grandstand and announcer on track, with leaderboard, and oh my god if this is ONLY 5? laps I will punch a wall.
 
My 10 NASCAR bets (1 of the following)

1. A patch to include AI Cars alongside Real Online Racers to create full lobbies to be pioneered in NASCAR races.

2. a) 2011 Nascars
b)More 2010 Paint Schemes
c) DODGE Nascars

3. Pre-COT Nascars (google it if you don't know what I'm talking about).

4. 2011 Nationwide Series Nascars

5. 2011 Truck Series Nascars

6. A patch to increase the number of cars in the game from 16 to 20/24.

7. Quick search function for NASCAR races

8. A graphics update for NASCAR races including:
a) Pit boxes
b) The Nascar Grid Scrolling Bar

9. A PACE Car / CAUTIONS for Online races to be pioneered with NASCAR races.

10. New Nascar Tracks including.
a) Bristol
b) Infineon
c) Watkins Glen
d) Talladega
 
One great idea for GT5 would be DLC packs that flesh out various series. A Rally DLC pack, for example, or a Nascar DLC pack.

That way, you can get a sample of many forms of motorsport, and pay extra for a real season full of content like cars and tracks.

The Nascar one would do very well. I'd buy an F1 pack.
 
Now I know why they've announced it early, seeing there were no new seasonals nor an OCD update today.

Yes - I wish there had been an OCD update with LMP cars. I've got a Peugeot 905 in the UCD, but don't want to drop 4M+ credits on it if its going to turn up 1/2 price and 0 miles in the next OCD update.

Aren't you describing the NASCAR 2011 game that is about to be released?
But I see where you're going, would be nice to have a bit more depth in the racing series featured in GT5.
I doubt I'll take part in that, somehow I just don't like driving the NASCARs. But much fun to anyone who enjoys this!
 
can't wait till dressing my driver in this suit... looks best and best colour scheme better than vettel's or loeb's suit...

Sounds good, but I don't think people like codemasters with F1 2011 would be too impressed if you could play full F1 races on GT5, neither would any other similar specialist game. I also doubt they would get the rights to different types of race.
 
Anyone know if it will be possible to send jeff gordons outfit?? i might not be able to do the event :(
