update 2.06 problem

hey today i updated gt5 to 2.06 once completely updated for some reason the game doesn't recognize the "X" button. Every time i press the "X" nothing happens but i can scroll trough the options in the main menu but I can't select any icon.

So my point is how can i fix this?
 
Try restarting the game, or using a second controller. It may have messed up your Player 1 controls.

I recommend this with the controller plugged into the PS3.
 
I've tried restarting the game but still same problem i tried with my dfgt still nothing but i haven't tried using the ds3 plugged in i will definitely try that tomorrow

anymore suggestions?
 
so i tried what you guys said but it still doesn't work how can i fix this?
is there some way to re-update the game, with out deleting my game-save?
 
You don't have to lose your game save data in order to restore or re-format the hard drive. You can backup your save game data by putting it on a flash/thumb USB drive (which everyone should be doing anyway) and then do your re-updating or restoring or re-formatting or whatever you choose to do next in resolving your problem. You could also try re-installing the game data from the disc. Just an idea. Have confirmed that the X button works with other games? (Making sure it's not your controller?)
 
i can use X outside of the game and in other games just not in gt5. so how do i restore or whatever you recommend
 
please help i'd like to be able to play GT5 again
 
hey so i figured out what was the problem it wasn't gt5 it self but the steering wheel. after about 10 minutes of playing around with the wheel i noticed that the pedals where unplugged from the wheel. And was what stopped gt5 from recognizing the "X","square","circle", and "triangle" buttons.

Glad you got it fixed. The last thing we need is a bug that prevents you from using the controller, lol.
