So, basically, I had to do a PS3 System Restore so I lost all my data for GT6 (no, I didn't back it up). Anyway, I put the GT6 disc in and have been trying to do the update/download/whatever for several days now. The update is in 17 parts, so I knew it would take a long time. However, I was under the impression that once one update installed, that it was truly installed and I didn't need to worry about it.

Last night I got 11 of the 17 updates installed and everything seemed fine. So I went to sleep, and when I woke up the PS3 was off. I turned it back on, and expected that at worst i would have to do the last six if it had not done it while I was asleep. Nope. It wants me to redo all 17!

I keep having issues with this. First it was trouble installing, then I had error 8001002B at one point, then I got past that and am dealing with this?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm a bit worried since the reason I had to do the system restore was because it froze during GT6 and I had to manually shut it down, and when it reopened it said the data was corrupted. Could this still be having an impact even though the restore seemed to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Anything my PS3 says about corruption/system restore I usually ignore......

But.....I keep seeing this problem, I'm sure on the GranTurismo.com page there is still a banner about how best to not encounter this.

I'm sure they've stated about having to acknowledge the install within 2 secs or something to that effect on one of the updates 1.01-1.18, not sure which one.

Edit: just looked and its on the front page with a (!) yellow icon, I think this might be what people are not aware of.

Edit: Here you go, it might help, I've bolded the important bit, I'm sure some people are having to do vast updates (not all of us got the game at release) and are obviously leaving their PS3 to do its thing and this happens.

This is only a suggestion.

Gran Turismo®6
Known Issue when Updating the Game from Ver. 1.02
Last Update: 14/01/2014

We have discovered an issue where some users may experience the following problem during the download of new game updates when they have Update 1.02 installed.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
When Gran Turismo 6 is launched while connected to PSN, a message will appear on screen informing the users that "the latest update data for this software has been found (Version X.XX)".

2.
Once accepted (by pressing the X button while selecting [OK]), a “Please wait...” message will be displayed. After a few seconds, the PlayStation®3 system will emit 3 acoustic signals and restarts automatically.

3.
At this point, some users may receive a message stating that the system was not shut down correctly last time. The system will ask then to perform a system file check and then the reboot is completed.

4.
Users will be prompted again to download the update, whether they received the message in step 3 or not.

Procedure to avoid this issue:
To avoid this issue, please accept to download the Update by selecting [OK] within 2 seconds of its appearance on screen when prompted. This will update the game properly.

If you wait longer than 2 seconds, please decline the Update by pressing the Circle button when the message in step 1 is displayed, then select [Back] in the subsequent "Sign-In to PSN" screen. The game will start, quit the game using the PS button while in the [My Home] screen and follow the procedure described above.

Note:
In step 3 you may also receive a message “Report this problem to Sony Computer Entertainment?”. You can select either [Yes] or [No] to proceed.

We deeply apologise for the inconvenience this issue may have caused.

Thanks for the help, but I am already aware of the 2 second thing. I've been sure to click the "OK" button immediately when it comes up... It is currently on update 6/17 and I am crossing my fingers that it will actually work this time, even though I did nothing different last time. :(

If not try downloading thee updates without going into the game.

1. hit triangle on the gt6 icon in the xmb
2. search for updates
3. update it that way.
