update ended my endurance

Yesterday afternoon I started a 24 hour endurance race for bspec. I woke up at 6 am for work. Before I left I checked on my driver. I turned on the screen to a display that said, "to start the game you must download the latest update" he would have been 16 hours into the endurance race. Ugh.....
 
How did this happen? I was "rubberband grinding" all night and it never interrupted me. It's only supposed to update when you restart your game.
 
I suggest signing out of PSN before starting any long b-spec endurance races (or even if you are doing a-spec endurance races over a couple of days).
 
(Removed) Yesterday I left Bobby doing the first 24hs race finally... I must check today but if you are right I waste many hours of my PS3 life :D

Maybe router hiccupped and when my ps3 autosigned in I got the message. Regardless I have to restart the race. What's worse is I am not grinding yet. I was doing it to complete the event for the first time.
 
thats why i turn auto update off... or just sign out of psn when it asks
 
I started a 24h last night as well, and it hasn't kicked me out of the race yet that I know of. Checked it 2 hours ago and I was running strong at 12 and a half hours.

Also, if you get disconnected from the PSN at any point, doesn't it just stay logged out until you go manually relog you? That's what always tends to happen to me.
 
Logging out of the PSN is not enough. I tested it yesterday. The game still wants to update even if you are logged out. Only a complete cut from the iNet helps. :drool:

Btw. it's not the first time that a user reported that the GT5 update aborted their endurance race. A other one could finish the race by cutting the iNet connection, but he hasn't got the trophy for the finished race. :dunce:
 
Well i guess I'm lucky then. I feel sorry for the OP, that would really suck. At least it was bspec though
 
I die in expectation to go home to see what happen there... if Bobby finish the race, the champagne will flow, if update broke his wings the rant will flow :D

Sure enough, I've gotten home and my race is still running just fine. Now given, I turn off all my controllers while it's running, but I was connected to the PSN the whole time. 16 hours into the LeMans 24 and my drivers are running strong (and I'm enjoying seeing 11 other cars with significant rear bumper damage - I wonder how that happened...)
 
Turn off the internet when u do longer races
 
Oh totally, I restarted it after work and class today taking all necessary precautions. Controllers off and the ps3 is not even plugged into the router anymore. I am also trying to win it "legitimately". That is not using one of the X2010's. They are all neatly organized in my garage. I have gold in the Vettel challenges and level 35 bspec (obviously) so all the X2010's are one after another with zero miles and never been switched to. They will stay that way that car ruins the game for me.
 
this threads blink up every update...

its own fault... why you need internet when your bob drives round and round and round?^^ for 24 hrs...
 
Because we're too lazy to turn it off and/or we still want to use text chat with our friends.

Same reason Twitter and Facebook are popular.

you can cancel the update (1.09)....A dark page appear and they ask if you want to install it now ok/cancel....I was in the middle of an A-spec endurance....gonna update after the race is finished...

Good for you that it was B-spec and not A-spec though...
Also good that you reported it happening, cause PD can't fix issues that they're not aware of. The more that report these kinds of things, the bigger the chance that someone from PD will find out about it. 👍
