Wouldn't it be so cool if PD gave us update logs like this recent one from RFactor 2?

AI:
—————————-
Extra code to prevent ramming from behind when attempting to pass.
Generally made AI initiated player crashes less likely.
Made line transitions safer (for example moving from fastest to blocking line).
Fixed exaggerated pitspot slowdown.
Implemented 1st round of VERY basic wet weather tire logic.
Now always simulating a lap once for every car to get fuel, time, and minimum speed for track (to improve AI pit strategy).
Made AI slower at 70% by not only reducing their grip (was already being done) but also cutting a bit of speed off corners on top of that when figuring.
Made AI cars more likely to pass another car in the straight if given the opportunity.

I mean... wow. 2 things stand out here:

1. The transparency is ... it's like.... beautiful music. :p

2. These guys actually had to slow down their A.I. drivers. How does THAT happen? ......good lord, I am jaded. :)

oh yeah here's the RSC link showing the entire list of improvements to the title. It's definitely worth a look.

They do. Its posted here on gtplanet, www.gran-turismo.com and on the game itself. We also have the community built changelog as well for hidden changes and such.

I think he means if PD gave us one that actually says what the update did so we don't have to do a Community-Built one that has far more stuff than the official one.

Thats true. 👍

thanks, friend!

Ya agree, they should have offical post about what they are doing and what they are planning to do.

I don't agree with the second part, as many things can go wrong when making or updating a game. Also it's like knowing what you are getting for christmas.

LFS is a great example.

They probably won't do it just to "hide" all the mistakes they have made, after trying to correct previous mistakes.

Yeah! The AI was kicking my ass!

Yeah that brings up several questions. Most importantly, how much better can a project really get if it's owners are so highly interested in hiding mistakes- instead of admitting to them, and correcting them?

Admission is the first step to correction.... or something like that. :sly:

If it were easy, it'd be done. Plus whenever you fix something, it can cause something else to break.

You wouldn't want 4 months between updates, would you?

PD can't win with this crowd, so they do the best they can.

Not to be flippant but PD could not win with their own crowd :scared:. "I would have wanted two more years" or a similar phrase uttered by Kaz and while being serious as well.

Off-Topic, but have you ever heard a developer NOT say they wanted more time to tweak and add more stuff into a game? I know I've heard "we wanted do do this, but we ran out of time" a hell of a lot more often than "yeah, we really just couldn't think of anything else to do and everything worked flawlessly so we just released it."

^^^ That.

the fact that we have massive Community-built changelogs is a bit alarming.

The speculation that goes on around here is a result of PD's elusiveness.

I like GT5's Force Feedback better than rF's. In fact I quit playing rF long before GT5 came out because the physics and FF were so F'd up. PD does do a lot right.
