This work is a combo of me picking up random race with random car in random condition + racing against historic [AI] drivers (I have a custom race with Miata where the drivers are teamed up by nations and renamed with champions of the F1 past) + overall structure.

So it collects the plus of different things I have spread here and there and join them all :cheers:

So that little toggle in the lower-right of your screenshot controls the underlying math for that ‘upgrades/repairs’ column. I found it an interesting idea (and then didn’t really develop it further) and a convenient way to add realism and a bit more challenge to the financial side of progression. I am personally in the middle of Professional League and sitting on about 10M credits - though I’ve been pretty frugal in my purchasing…some later events may call for a big purchase and I want to be ready!

As you noted, the main thing is filling in the price of upgrades/maintenance (car wash/oil change, however negligible) for each car, in the ‘upgrades/repairs’ column. If you choose to participate beyond this, you can optionally tally how many times you’ve picked up damage (‘damage incidents’ column…alternatively, how many times you carried damage through finish line) and how many events in which you’ve used the car (‘series entered’ column).

I titled the column “upgrades/repairs” to accommodate the logic - as some of the displayed expense would no longer be an actual upgrade, but rather related to repairing/reoutfitting with fresh tires. Sorry it was misleading!

There are individual multipliers you can adjust (hidden ‘aux’ sheet? been a while) to control your own balance, too. I think I have it set to charge you for another set of the car’s default tire for each ‘series entered’ tally, and 10% of the car’s purchase price for each ‘damage incident’.

Hope this tracks! Nothing you NEED to do other than record stuff you’ve bought, and then if you like, you can keep track of the number of times you use and/or damage each car.

If I linked it correctly, you can see how I’ve filled it out in my ‘playthrough’ link in my signature. Just keeping a running tally! And I don’t count EVERY race, just every ‘batch’ of races.

Arcade Mode gameplay at Suzuka against Sophy.

Funny enough Suzuka was a regular AI race but I just jumped in with Sophy and really enjoyed it, especially the time transition, so I made it a Sophy race as well.

Doing a little promotion if you will as we get closer to the update.

shout if I have messed any of those up…caught a couple of mistakes over the past few months and think I fixed them, but honestly haven’t played in a while. Recent thread activity is sucking me back in - excited to be home (been traveling) and strap in!

If you would rather fix yourself, you can source the logic to the hidden columns (B-F? ish) in the ‘AI Report Card’ sheet. I try to match the shorthand layout name between that sheet and the one listed in the main progression sheet.

ok, thanks, I was right then about pink, but we I saw purple appearing I get confused.

Sophy races are quite challenging to me, I should be perferct to achieve a podium, while the minimal miscue sticks me to the last position*


*unless I give her a Mercedes-Benz 190 to drive, she cannot make a turn with it :lol:

Alsace-Village needs a pink/purple update, just sat down! Corrected in template.

As noted above, a self-fix is pretty easy. There’s an “Xs and Ys” situation going on in those hidden columns, should be easy to match to existing formatting.

this ‘game’ is played via Custom Race mode in Gran Turismo 7. First post has all the details and supporting documents, my signature contains a template spreadsheet for how I personally keep track of my progression.
 
Just a few quick questions

1. When setting up your custom grid, are you tuning the cars to reach the max PP or using cars that are unmodified under the max PP?
2. Are you trying to use a different car for each racer to give diversity?

This is an incredible concept and am so happy that I just found this new way to play!

Of course it is up to each person to do whatever… I DO like spending the time getting each driver a unique car and tuning them to the PP limit, for sweatier/fairer racing and maximum fun! It is very tedious, however.

I keep a tab in my spreadsheet (“Rivals”) so I don’t lose track of who drives which car, prefers which methods of tuning, livery styles, etc. I am not TOO on top of it, rather each AI driver earns a few cars that are uniquely theirs over the course of play…

This was kind of what I was thinking but I am not sure I will go so far as to make each driver have preferences to vehicles. May just tune 8 cars, pick mine, and use a spinner to assign cars for the rest of the grid that they will use through a series. Maybe AI preferences will emerge, we will see.

Again fantastic work on this @Theufcveteran and all involved!

No, you can just set the AI cars to Random or Select by Car Category if it's a group racing car race.

You can play where only you set up your car to meet the event requirements, and then the AI grid is random or Select by Car Category.

The quick start guide goes over everything you need to know to get started.

Wow…found a TON of small errors in my spreadsheet. Writing in with a fairly significant update (added the incoming HiSpeedRing for Sophy eligibility and new cars/default tires).

The spreadsheet now offers tracking through the Expert League! (Beginner->National->Pro->Expert…) This includes licenses T5, T4, T3, and T2 licenses (open AND closed wheel), the last one being new to the spreadsheet.

Encourage actually getting the new sheet, as opposed to copy/pasting the additions to your existing progression…I had to redo some underlying logic that didn’t scale beyond a finite number of events (didn’t realize it was an issue until this update batch of events sent me over said limit), which will in theory eventually bite you if you don’t grab the new one.

Keeping your progression should be trivial - whatever your current “wallet” is, just write that number into the “Extra winnings” cell at the top of the new template, hide whatever rows you want to ignore (having completed them in your original spreadsheet), and you’re good to go.

Hey all. I'm on decent pace but I think getting it all done by the 25th will be quite a crunch and I want to try and avoid that if possible. I'm not far from done, I'm going to push the update back to the 31st of July.

I really tried this time to be as productive as I could weeks out, rather than waiting for the deadline to boot my brain into gear, and I was/am doing well relative to the Integrale release date, but I want to get this out, polished, without crunching. And nothing that needs to be changed/fixed after the fact. I don't have many things left in a total sense, but those things are large.

I'm working my way through them but I know some of it will take some time and I don't want to rush it and go for something that isn't ideal because it needs to be done.

Slip Risks is partially done at the moment. What takes time is that each event has three specific times of day that are available in Drift Trial, and I like to see what kind of visuals each preset time of day has.

The driver bios and portraits are mostly what I'm accounting for, because that will take some time, and then I want to make sure the new missions are all tested. A couple of them are, just need to test the other ones.

Apologies for the delay, but I just need the extra time to get it done without crunching and to make sure everything is polished.

Slip Risks is basically done. Some final testing needed. Spreadsheets are essentially ready to go. Just need to split Slip Risks into documents for each path when the testing is done.

Now working on Manufacturer League races. Will finish those on the 29th, test the remaining new missions, and then a big push for driver bios and we are done.

Driver portraits are going to take a bit of time.

The bios will be done, but there are a lot of driver portraits needed.

So I'll get as many in as I can by the 31st (hopefully around 30-40) and then continue updating them over the next few weeks.

I think I should be able to get them all in by the end of August.

If I have the 31st free just for portraits then I might be able to do them all. We'll see, but for sure they will all be done by the end of August at the latest.

After the update is live (will be mentioned with a new post in this thread and in the title when it's live), to make sure everything is updated with any documents you have previously copied, I'd recommend re-copying every existing document you have, but it only needs doing once, as there will be no more updates for Integrale after the 31st.

Everything is in a good place and I'm making sure this update won't need fixes post release.

The only document that needs re-copying after the 31st is the Shuffle League document after each GT7 update because it gets updated the day of each GT7 update to support the new cars and tracks/GT Sophy compatible tracks.

The shuffle wheel links will also be posted here when updated so you can just copy them into your current shuffle league document if you have copied one previously.

Manufacturer League is done. I'm a day behind schedule but I think I can get it done with a late launch this evening (31st).

Just to prove that I haven't been twiddling my fingers, because I know I promise a date and then end up delaying - I overestimated the time it would take, but I am working on it - the new Manufacturer League documents are updated with the new events. Re-copying those documents from the spreadsheet will copy the updated version.

There are 133 new manufacturer races. Almost every race in the manufacturer league has been rebalanced in terms of lap count to be shorter and more arcade like, barring a couple of events, based on a little formula I came up with for the lap count depending on the PP. 3 laps for races below 500 PP, 4 for 500 PP, one lap extra per 100 PP.

It seems to work out to be races that have enough time to get a battle going over a few laps but not to where it feels it's getting too long.

:lol: I often tend to unintentionally overestimate what I think I can get done. Like when I make an estimate I feel that I can do it, and then I get to working on it and I realise “wait, this is going to take longer than I thought”.

I think probably I set a date thinking I can easily do 100% work mode but the reality is that usually only sets in when I’m up against the clock.

I don’t intentionally try to do less before then but I’m not able to force 100% work mode until the deadline starts getting close.

So I think going forward I need to account for that and set dates that are further out.

This time though, content wise, I was only one day behind schedule. But I figure I’d delay it longer so I could get everything done with the bios and portraits.

I really do apologise for all the delays but I don’t intentionally set dates I don’t think I’ll meet.

It just ends up being that during work on it I realise it’s going to be a tighter deadline than I thought or I need a bit more time.

I hope it will be worth it at least though. There’s quite a lot of content in this update.

Sorry for being late to the replies on this one.

1 - I try to tune each car to have it's best performance at a PP set point. However, I am shooting for PP to be as close as possible to the target, rather than using it as a hard limit.

So, for instance, if my target is 700pp, I allow cars to be up to 700.05pp. I find cars that are less than 699.95 are noticeably slower and, ergo, less fun. I've also found that I can almost always make them a few points better, and get a more competitive race. Lastly, allowing the PP to go over slightly brings more cars closer to the target. For example (and I am making up numbers to get the point across), I might get a car than will be 699.76pp, but with a slight tweak it can be 700.03pp. With 700.03 being closer to 700pp than 699.76, the racing is better.

2 - I like to limit the choices so there are multiples of the same car. IMHO, a 19 car grid with 19 different cars doesn't play out as well. I rarely have a single instance of a car, unless it's a VERY expensive car to have multiples of.

If you do a Group C race, there are only 5 cars to choose from anyway (962 C, C 9, XJR 9, R92 CP, and the 787B)

That's just how I do it.
