Because the sequences are pre rendered FMV, and don't require as much processing power to run, so progeressive scan would be easier to implement.

O. Guess we'll find out soon enough but I remember reading in one of the gt4 mag scans(someone translated it) that we will be able to pick the quality of gt4's look. and live, wouldn't we have to turn on the p-scan? I'm not sure if there are games that turn p-scan on by itself. Like prince of persia, you had to turn p-scan on.

Could someone explain how that output would be used only for the video sequences and not in gameplay?
I was referring to 5.1 sound only, as you can read in the quote from "SaintKamus" I put in my post. The video sequences can contain 5.1 sound just like a standard DVD, but during the actual gameplay there won't be enough power to generate realtime 5.1 sound.

Doesn't Metal Gear Solid 3 do 5.1 ingame? :)

I didn't say it's generally impossible to generate realtime 5.1 sound, I meant that it's impossible in GT4 cause the PS2 is already at its limit. Okay, I didn't say I was talking about GT, but that was kinda obvious, wasn't it? :sly:

Anyway, it's only a few days away, and then we'll all know what the game has and what it doesn't. 👍

Yes, it has Dolby Pro Logic II. But, it's not the Digital version. It's just the analog version. It's similar in audio dynamics as Dolby Pro Logic, but this time it has a sub woofer channel, and the rear surround channels are full bandwith instead of 100hz to 7Khz. It's not that big of a deal, really.

But, Dolby Digital 5.1 is a big deal, but I bet it's for the FMVs and not in game. Same goes for 480p and 1080i.

I think it could be one of those things. It's some storage devixce that has info on it that will help you set up cars in GT4, I guess.

that page... it's a picture of a Japanese cell phone surfing the i-mode (japanese cellular-only internet) GT4 site set up by the folks at Tsutaya (a huge rental video chain, kinda like Blockbuster.)

those two GT4 screens, are screensaver calendars for the cellphone.

that bar code thingy on the right is for japanese camera cellphones. if you have a phone with a camera you can take a picture of the bar code and it takes you automatically to the i-mode site, instead of typing in a i-mode address or perusing thru menus.

the coolest thing though is that Tsutaya is sponsoring a Photo Contest using the GT4 Photo Mode, complete with prizes. "What kind of prizes?" you ask? it just says "fabulous" prizes.

He is right! I just checked the site and now there are over 300-350 cars on there now!! I counted up to 300 and it was still going. I checked last week and there were only around 200. i noticed a few new vehicles on there like the new Mustang and the SSR truck. There are several others that I have not seen on that site before. I think they keep adding more cars every week. :)
edit:The Ford GT AND the GT40 are on there now too.
edit: Here is another car I havent seen anywhere.

I go there quite frequently and I promise you there has been no update on the cars since the website was redesigned. Almost every time I browse the cars think:"Hey, there's a new one!". But then I search the thread about that last update for that car, and I discover that it was there already. I'm really serious and absolutely sure on this one, there have been no new cars since the beginning of November.

Thanks for the info! 👍

That isnt even half of the cars that will be in the final game. I counted about 370 cars on that site. I really hope there will be older BMW M3's such as both an E30 and an E36 M3 (one from 87-91 and one from 95-99).
