Can someone help. I have done everything up to the fanatec page to update firmware . I can't go any further due to a error on the last line that is labeled driver, this is what it says: fanatec upate port driver pre-install failed .Not sure why this is showing I downloaded driver for 32 bit .I am running windows xp.

In your firmware download.. there is included a different driver ( for when the wheels in update mode).. you need to install this..

Step ?? (optional)
If you never performed an update before on this PC you also need to select the driver
file which is located in the sub-folder “USB_driver”.

go to the folder right click on the inf file and select install..

give that a whirl and see how you go.. Note this is in addition to the latest fanatec drivers for your machine.

I have tried everything that the instructions require and nothing happens always getting same message about the port driver pre installed failed

My suggestion is to try them on another computer. I'm betting with XP, you have a driver conflict. Unlike Win 7 or Vista, XP has no way of identifying conflicts short of removing them altogether. I'm betting the issue isn't with the pedals. Let us know!

The pedals are not connected only wheel. I'm having a hard time trying to use as administrator .The file the firmware is in is winrar and when I right click on it it does not have a section to run as so I van select administrator.

You will need to "unzip" the file. You should right click it will give you an option of "unzip here"....(I think)..when its unziped there will be a file in there to open up driver

I'd bet katpeeler nailed it. When you mentioned winrar your talking about a zipped file. Winace, Winrar, Winzip, any of these will uncompress the files. Once done you should have a setup icon.
