Looking at buying a PS3 soley for GT5. Considering we will be able to upgrade our cars, will the AI also upgrade their cars to stay competitive in class? I did a forum search and could not find anything so I appologise in advanced if this has already been answered.

We know very little of fine details like this about GT5 yet, but in previous GT's the AI does upgrade their cars.

Really? I never new that. I didn't seem to find that the AI in GT4 upgraded their car's performence.

They didn't upgrade to match you, they were just randomly tuned (usually fairly mild), which you arn't aware of how much until you race then and realise your car which should be faster (stock for stock) but you can't keep up in the straights.

Just to add to what Jay said, some cars are actually tuned beyond the car's potential. What i mean by this is, in the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220 one make race, the AI cars were tuned higher. Even with maxed out tuning, a rear wing and R5 tyres, it was still ~120 points per race which basically means they tuned it more than you can.

I think they do this in the 206 cup aswell, but i'm not sure. I think these are the only 2 examples of this.

I knew I wasn't crazy. That **** was so hard

Yeah, it was frustrating.

I hope PD don't overuse the whole "performance points" system in gt5. I had to fine tune the gear ratio's for each race. I remember having my car right on the PP limit and just getting left behind on the straights.

I don't want to have to fine tune gear ratios all the time. Anyone else have this problem in gt5p? Could've sworn the AI had a higher number of performance points than i was limited to.
