Hello,

if i upload my SVG with the uploader.
Is it available only to me or to all people?

If to all: How is it categorised?

If only to me: How to make it available?

Hope someone can help me.

Greetings
Reto

It is only available to you unless you share it in game.

If you share it in game, you get to give it 3 tags so others can find it if they search for it.

Thankyou for your answer.

How can i share it ingame?
I know how to upload a complete livery and share it while uploading, but sharing something otherwise?

To share a sticker, you have to go to « my library » then press Triangle on the sticker and you’ll see different options (delete/favorite/share).

If you select Share, you can set different tags and options for the sticker.

But don’t forget that if you delete a sticker you shared, it will no longer be usable for everyone, leaving a blank place in their liveries.

Yesterday i tried this and shared 2 of my svgs. Today i checked here if they are available and they are not.
I see them in my feed, people even commented on them but they are not findable in the discover section.
It is 2 KitKat Chocolate bars and i gave kitkat and chocolate as tags and KitKat Bar left (and right) as the title.

Strange.... :-|

They are here :

ah, if i search for date and not popularity they appear:

very strange, that with popularity the search is not complete. it should only affect the order and not the results. someone should kick those web programmers over there....

@officialgtrch

When you search by popularity, it doesn’t display xx results per page like Google.

First page is « above 200 likes »
Second page is « between 100 and 200 likes »
... and so on (these are fake numbers, see below).

BUT unlike the « date » results which show the period above, the popularity range is not shown. That’s why you never know how many pages you need to scroll until you find what you want (same for the liveries).

My advice :

- when you search for liveries, it is useful to search by popularity. Unless you are looking for an obscure and rare team, the most popular results are often the best liveries (with the exception of some of the early days liveries which get likes only because they were « the first »).

- when you search for decals, sort by date. This has multiple benefits : the period is shown, so you know that when you reach 2017/10/24, there is nothing more. The number of pages is also finite (I’ve never reach the end by popularity, while it takes « only »22 or 23 pages to cover the whole time period). With people being better at making SVG, the latest decals are also usually of good quality. And finally, the latest decals will be shown on top of your library and you don’t have to scroll through a thousand items to find them.

Thankyou for the exact explanation. It really helped a lot. I see the system now.
Its better than i thought but not logic at first sight.

Back in my days intuitive usability was the words that were followed to design things, but these days are long gone i think.
The younger generation is adapted to use what they get and not demand for better anymore. :-) (so, thats it with my complaints about the world today :-P )

When i got time i will provide more svgs. Thankyou too for telling me that i dont delete those then. Thats an important information. I dont want to make people upset.

If only the Livery Editor would be running on other devices than PS4... that d be great...

Considering the sharing system only, here is my list of improvements I wish they made (although most are unlikely to happen, these are not big things) :

Search system
- Add the search by popularity in-game too (I wonder why they didn't do it yet as it seems very easy to implement)
- Display 100 results per page instead of the time/popularity range (You will still get 10 pages of RedBull logos, but at least the small unknown sponsor your're looking for will be on its own page)
- Or at least display the amount of results (It will prevent you to search until the 23rd page if they are no results)
- Allow for more tags (3 are fine for decals, but not enough for liveries, 5 ou 6 will be better)
- Allow "non selective" search by tags (now if you search #imsa;#gtd, it will show you only the cars with #imsa AND #gtd, it should show #imsa OR #gtd)

Sharing system :
- When adding a decal to collection, store it in the console or in the personnal server storage, that way if the decal is deleted, you can still use it (unless Polyphony deletes it for abusive content)
- Allow to update/overwrite shared liveries : that way you can correct or add the tiny detail you spot after sharing it without losing popularity. (drawback : overwriting with a blank or offensive livery to annoy other people)
- Improve limit for decal storage beyond 1000 (why not on our own console?)
- Improve favourite folders beyond 10
- Allow for quick search inside your own library

I'm one of the few who don't want to increase the 15kB SVG limit. Although it is sometimes frustrating, it is also challenging and it helps to keep decals "clean", in the spirit of vector drawing, instead of non-optimized multi-nodes traced raster images. I'd rather they harmonize the way decals are read in the game to the way they are created (or even shown in the decal uploader), or at least tell us what is functionnal and what is not.

(yeah that was my complaint time too )

yes i would totally agree. on every point.

yes, also the 15kb limit is good.
Most people dont take into credit, that is has to be VISIBLE on the car while DRIVING. There is no need for photos put on cars. It should be simple things that make your car look good/unique.
The playing with colours is more important than to just process a jpg to a svg.

I struggled really hard to make my own number plates ingame, but i divided my work into 2 svg per plate, deleted some details but it ended up looking good i think:

the Swiss-Bernese Back Numberplate was hard because the bear had so many details. but in the end you see it ingame and you have to recognize it to what it has to be and thats all.

And the console needs to be able to render all those things in a smooth and fast way and even the transfer must be fast.
I didnt even think about the 15kb limit, i more thought about the fact that you can use 1000 stickers on one car. So that makes a 14MB package of decaldata max per car. with 16 cars in a race, thats over 230MB of data transfer while entering a lobby. These are facts normal users dont even think about. Designing a system is a whole lot more complicated than improving and even using it. So for the 15KB limit, i am fine with.
