URBANCOCKPIT-1
Hi everybody,

I am proud to present Urban Cockpit, the solution for all simracing fans...

… Especially those still stuck with a joystick because they have no place to cockpit with a steering wheel, pedals and gearshift.

All details here : www.kickstarter.com/projects/urbancockpit/urban-cockpit-a-better-way-to-play-jouez-mieux

The cockpits showed in this video are the latest prototypes.

Urban Cockpit wants to help you to play with more fun and deeper immersion your simracing games, so help us starting this great adventure !

As you can understand, your help is very important because you are those who could :

> help us financially,
> spread the good news "Urban Cockpit on Kickstarter" on the other dedicated forums (like GTPlanet) and to all the people you know so they will do the same,
> give a like to our Facebook et Google + pages. You are welcome to comment in english, I'm "bilingual"

Great idea, innovative design, & I love the multifunctional nature of it.

All the best with your venture!

Well it is not ideal for my situation - (don't get me wrong it is a great design, and very fashionable) the stand alone style is to low for my current tv stand. I sit in a char that the seat is 16" off the ground and that is just high enough after recently lowering the TV. - I have to use a fold away home made wheel stand and folding chair that get put into the closet - they are ugly but work well.

The one that folds into the TV stand, this leaves no where to put my ps4, ps3, wii, cable box, etc.. If I had a separate room for just the ps4, an extra tv, your hide away cockpit it would be great, but I would want the TV closer so the tv stand model would have to allow the cockpit to slide further under.

Anyways.. to help spread the word i recommend you also post on reddit if you have not already - https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/new/

Also I just bought a T300 and took my wife on our anniversary trip.. very low on funds :/

What a great idea! Although I don't need this myself (I have a nice racing rig now) it would suit many people I'm sure. A few years ago I would have bought one of these myself. I'll post a message in the iRacing hardware forum advertising your kickstarter.

It is all I need now. Thanks for your help, Marky. :)

Any forum that is dedicated to simracing must know about my project, so spread the good news, folks !

And thanks to all for your nice comments !

This reminds me something already presented years ago (pre-2010 ?) with pictures etc.
It's nice to see that this good idea might finally come to life.

This being said, I think that the compatibility objective should be more clearly stated in the concept presentation. From the demo video, there does not seem to be a lot of margin around the custom G27 that is used.

This custom G27 has a bigger wheel than the original one and there is still plenty of room for my hands. And I will enlarge a little bit (10 centimeters more) the space on the vertical module and the dresser for those who want a lot larger space for their legs... But 45 cm is still very confy to drive with. :)

You won me over with the NA MX-5 in the video. ;)

More here ;)

Wow, what an amazing, innovative product. It seems like the perfect answer to all my problems.

I am definitely interested in purchasing the item as i havent had the space for a full gaming rig nor do i like the instability of wheelstand products so this seems just right.

Is this available to purchase already ? or is it a working prototype that you are looking for a backer before you start to develop it en mass?

If so how much will the unit price be ? for the base product.

From the you tube video it seems as though you can leave the steering wheel unit in the apparatus when not being used? am i correct in assuming this ? So it will double up as a storage device for the wheel and pedals when not in use?

Have you tested the unit for mounting stability with the different wheels? Fanatec, logitec, thrustmaster etc? as some of these wheels are quite heavy and need a sturdy mounting point, basically i am asking whether or not this unit will rattle or rock when in use or is it rock solid and there is no movement? What about the shifters? have you tried it with the thrustmaster th8a ?

Sorry for the random questions i am serious on purchasing the unit but i have a few concerns.

Either way i will watch this space closely and i wish you the very best on your project i sincerely hope it is a success.

I'll do it, even if it is only one per month ;). I just have to find a not too expensive solution for the shipping.
Maybe you could produce it on demand. Someone want to set an order, you tell him how much time you need to produce it and the deposit needed in order to cover cost production.

That's exactly what I was thinking if the Kickstarter campaign doesn't work; Wait and see... :)

Very nice idea, much better than the 'pretend' foldaway cockpits, it doesn't suit my needs as i have a million add ons on my current chair but given the time it takes for me to diassemble and pack mine i can certainly appreciate the benefits of this.

Best of luck, you should sell bucketloads to be honest :)

@nurburgring

Sadly it seems that the kickstarter thing has not totally reached the numbers you wanted. Do you already know if the Urban Cockpit will exist anyway ?

For sure, it is very sad that Urban Cockpit didn't reach the goal we needed to start seriously. But don't worry, I'm still working to find funds. I love this concept and know that a lot of people need it.

Anyway, I'm planning to be ready to deliver DIY plans and instructions beginning of september.

Right now, I'm starting to build the vertical dresser as a most advanced version of this project : I'm designing it to be the most lighter possible (for lower shipping fees). It will also be a kit (to lower the final tag price).

I have several firm orders now that I have to fabricate before the end of the year.

So if you need to know more, just go on www.urbancockpit.com. You can contact us when you want.
English version of this website is under construction.

Thanks to all for your support.
