I picked the game up around 4pm at Gamestop. I looked at the three second-hand shops. Picked up a 91 Civic SiRII. Completed Sunday Cup and got the Autobianchi A111R '79 whatever it was, SOLD THAT..got 3 golds on B license..took photos of my Civic at the Grand Canyon, and I can honestly say this is what I wanted GT to be ever since day 1...how does everyone else feel? I got really emotional when I was looking through the "classifieds" for my first car..I am now 1.0% done with a 212hp stage 1 turbo Civic and I loved being glued to the tv for 3 whole hours..I needed a snack though so here I am.

Sound: I hope everyone turned the music off? Good. I play on a 17" crappy tv with no surround sound and I still think the cars sound 100x better than before..

Control: same as always, but a lot more squat/dive with the pressure-sensitive accel/brake..I love it!

Content: Wow..the sheer amount of everything on the screen makes me feel like I'm reading a damn BOOK. Scrolling through classic Honda's and seeing the entire S series in one game makes every other encyclopedia of cars obsolete..All we needed was a description of each car, not each manufacturer!

Well I kept this short so I can continue playing..hope everyone is having fun! VROOM VROOM 👍

Talking about the sound and the controls - were you comparing them to the Asian versions of GT4 or to previous versions like GT3, GTC and GT4:P?

To me, the cars sound so much better in GT4 then they did in GT3. The low-end grunt from the Charger shakes my whole house!!:D

The new physics engine is taking some getting used to for me, but the whole squat/dive thing is great, and makes the Volvo 240 fun to drive:)

The sounds have been vastly improved, as well as the depth of the graphics. Photomode is great (I didn't like the idea at first), I have yet to use B-Spec mode, however. My only real complaint is that of the screen shake bug - very annoying.

The tracks are awesome (They brought back High Speed Ring!!) and I'm happy with the selectin of cars available. The menu layout is great - the game is great. Definately most everything I expected - minus Ferrari and Lamborghini and Porsche, of course.

They've also made the game harder, IMO, by changing the physics around to the more realistic side.

I definately give it an A+

I was cheap and I brought my 100k and licences over ;P Started with an evo VIII MR.. HKS suspension stg 3 lightened took me a lil to get used to the physics.. but now the MR is at 400ish hp ripping through the "Special Condition Events".. up to about 87k, Debating if I should sell the rally car I won for 265k or use it. XD

I just imported the 100,000 for flexibility reasons. Although I'm gonna try and gold the lisences, atleast up until the IA sometime soon.

I hate all those full lap time trial license tests - they are teh suck.

I hate them too. I just hate driving stock cars around a track in general:p

you know what sucks? the fact, that US version is 50$ and our will be 85$ and you have in average 2-3 times bigger salaries....

Keep the gripes in another thread, thanks.

The game is great. The physics are definitely something that takes some getting used to, though. I tried to just dive right into the game and found myself 5 seconds behind a mini cooper whilst driving a 202hp '98 MR2. Sad, huh?

Other than that, i just took my first photo mode picture of my Mazda Kusabi, and it's neat looking. I also just won all silver on b licence, getting a cheap ol' Lupo, and then a Kusabi for all silver. I opted NOT to import my GT3 save. It's an easy way to get into the game, yes, but it's cheap. My first car was the 1998 MR2 in a goldish color, going for about $8,700. 189hp on the menu, 39k miles, 180hp on the buy screen. Add an oil change and you get 202 whoppin' horsepower.. Nothing like a 22hp gain from a change of oil! :)

I'm going to attempt to get all silvers on A license as well, soon enough.. Don't think it'll be easy. Hah.. Golds are a pain in the arse, even on B license, though!

  what do you mean exactly?? Do you use the DFP or the DS2??

Wow, can't wait for PAL-land version!

At car dealer's, is there a proper block of text displaying info about the car (like in GT1/2) or is it that terrible scroller at the bottom of the screen as in GT3? Lots of interesting info in scrolling form is really a pain.

Anybody figure out if the License Test Coffee Break is good for anything?

I just did all the B License tests and it gave me all 3 prize cars without doing the Coffee Break. It looks like all the Coffee Break does is use another day ... but it does have a Gold time, so I'm a little curious. I went back and got gold on it and that didn't seem to do anything.

sadly there is no car info in the dealers :(
or anywhere as far as i can tell. this does suck, I spent a lot of time reading through the history of the cars in gt3

It is a little strange. Even the specs when you go to buy a car are less useful than GT3. It's nice being able to set MPH/KPH and torque units, but no matter what it still shows you dimensions in mm and weight in kg, and it doesn't have any power/wt ratio.

I doubt I'll play GT3 again, so I used my GT3 Memory card. To my surprise GT4 will let you take both A & B license test over to it so you don't gotta mess with passing those. Also lets you take some cash too, it totals 110,000, so I bought me a yeller 05 Mustang with spending cash to boot! It sounds bad ass and a blast to drive! If you have a Memory card with GT3 saved on it, use it! Hope this made sense, I know writing skills suck. But to answer the original Question, I hate it! Kidding!

What, so no text at all? That's a bit of a blow, isn't it?

Keep the gripes in another thread, thanks.

With the enormous amount of nosense and unnecesary "one liners" that fill the forums I don't think his commentary is out of place here. Just my opinion. All here want to enjoy GT4, and the fact that in some places it will cost that much should make us think a bit.

Got it from ebgames last night. I was only able to play for about an hour before I had to leave for work.

I'm half way thru the B Lisence. I bought a black 1992 Civic SiR-II and I did the Sunday races.

Only an hour and a half before I can head back home and haul ass. :D

Well, I'm very glad that they decided to include a roof view in GT4. It really adds perspective to the game. Braking in GT4 is harder to control because the wheels lock up very easily. This might take some getting used to.

do the race where you won it again and again and sell the prize car to generate cash, but keep at least one of the prize car. bu that's just my 2 cents...

I have a question

In the PAL version there are Euros, in the American Dollars, how are the prices comparable?

And i am hinking of starting with the Honda Civic Type R ('98) and it leaves you with 1 credit, is this a smart idea, it is my fav car and i would like to hang to it as long as possible

If you do the B license the hard way (rather than from a save) then you win a Lupo which can win races as it stands. If you use have a GT3 save for money then buy the Civic and you will still have plenty of cash.

On the Japanese game I used the Lupo prize car, did 3 races from the Sunday Cup and used the cash I then had (no extra cash from a GT3 save) to buy a used EVO IV which I used to win a Special Condition Series Race which game me a car that I sold for 265,000 (American/PAL equivalent). I used that series loads of times, selling the car every time. I did keep one eventually. On one day that Civic comes through with 10 Km on the clock. As good as a new car!!

(This is all based on the Japanese game but it ought to apply to the American one)

And just two more question:

1. What company is the MR2

2. What kind of start its the best, do yu keep the throttle all the way up until the start, or leave it and when it says go, then push it?

thanks in advance

Good Stuff: The physics are way way better. I love how the tires lock up under braking and you have to modulate them. The 900 degree steering is a trip! Lots more weight transfer, lots more dive, squat & body roll. FF cars understeer more like they should out of corners. Lots more sense of speed on the tighter tracks. I just did some hotlaps in an Arcade RUF BTR on the 'Ring and by god it's just scary fun. I don't know the 'Ring at all except for the small sections I golded on A and B license tests, so I feel like I am about to fly off of the track at any moment. When you crash hard, I like the shaking effect, it's much better than the whole world just coming to a stop. Nice graphics improvement, and alot better sound by far.

Bad stuff: Some of the B and A licence tests still seemed way too easy to gold, I got a few in 2 or 3 tries, and alot more in less than ten attempts. The "shaking screen" glitch when the graphics get too busy is really poor, and very disappointing. 👎

That's my initial thoughts.:)

holy crap u can win the car over? how..? which one do you race out of the two needed to win the group?

nevermind.. there's a clear option :dopey:

why in the hell would you buy a civic though if you imported gt3 money ;P silly go straight for the evo so u can rape the special conditions

Thats a good strategy... anyone that doesn't have gt4 yet is lucky, we're paving the way and showing them the easiest way to finiancial freedom.. lol
(the track is Capri Rally (Easy))

I can answer your first question, The MR2 is a Toyota.

I started over two times, and now I'm doing it the right way... I hope.

I used my GT3 save to get the A and B licenses but not the money, since it seems to ruin the whole beginning part of the game. I like starting slow and working my way up. I'm now trying to gold all the licenses.

Can I still get the prize cars from the A and B licenses if I used the GT3 save?
