USB backup glitch?

Hello,
Let me start off by introducing myself, I am MAlandM (PSN: malandm) and I have been playing GT5 for about 3 months (only started playing a lot recently) and I have been looking over the forums for a few days now and have gained a lot of useful info.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, but, can someone please explain how the USB glitch works with a 1970 birthday ticket (in my other account). All I know is that you back up somehow and keep trying to get the car you want (in my case a Chapparal 2J for the 650pp seasonals)?

A detailed explanation woud be greatly appreciate. I have searched over the forum and have found the answer, but haven't really understood it.

1. 2nd account currently has 1970 ticket, so save to USB

2. Start game and open ticket. If its not the 2j, then load the USB save file to the game and retry step 2 again until I get th 2j.

Have I made any mistakes?

Before you do any of that I would backup the game, send the ticket to you other account, and then restore the 2nd account and start trying for the 2J. That way you hold onto the 1970 ticket.

Which account is supposed to get the car?

You need to give the ticket to the correct account first since the 2J is not tradeable.

So if you want your 1st account to have the 2J, send the ticket to your first account and then back up the first account and use the ticket until you get the car.

If you get a 2J on the second account, you won't be able to send it.

I like to duplicate the ticket on both accounts before using it, that way I get the car and I get to keep the ticket and generate more copies of the ticket if I want to use it later.

He could always share it and not rack up any miles. That's sometimes what I will do.

But yeah, I guess we need to make sure he knows the 2J cannot be traded.
 
make it easy on yourself

dupe it a couple o times

so you have 3 or 4 chances to get the 2J

Also, once you've saved the ticket to a USB on your second account, you can keep sending it to your first account indefinitely. Open the game on your second account once per day, send the ticket to your original account, quit the game, load the saved game data from the USB stick (on your second account, remember), then log in as your original account, open the game, get ticket, redeem it, keep whatever you get, and repeat as often as you'd like.

I don't do it every day, but probably 5 days a week I get a nice "gift" from myself! :)
 
The same USB trick can not only be used for what was stated above (sending items without loosing them and sifting through tickets to get what you want) but it can also be used to keep mileage off of cars that you dont want to use (if you collect at all)

I often (actually am doing this a lot now with the Lancer in the Eiger TT) backup my game after logging in for the day getting the bonus and all gifts. Then I use the cars and set them how I want (also how you can apply permanent mods without making them permanent) and then use the cars (online, offline, seasonals, whereever). When your done go back to your backup and your car is exactly how you left it. I always go in this mode before playing online as I have 1/2 of my cars as "collection" cars and online the cars change sometimes rapidly.

Just make sure you remember these things: Remember to overwrite current save with the backup when your done and you WILL loose all money earned. BUT if you are working on a seasonal TT, your time will be logged online and in the leaderboards, however you will not have a trophy when you come back on.

I did that this weeks TT and then borrowed a friends car to get the trophy.

Just some other ideas what you can do with the save data. I saw one guy who had over 6000 cars using another form of the savedata trick (I wont call it a glitch) just by storing part of his cars on one memory stick, more on another and the rest on a third. It seems a bit confusing for me and I dont have that many cars but just yet another thing you can do with your savedata.

Thank you guys! That's what I was worried about, I need to get the 2J to my 1st account, and its not tradable. So I think I'll just send the ticket to 1st account and keep trying to get the 2J, while still having the ticket in the 2nd account!

Also, bear in mind that you can just "share" the car between accounts. You can set it to shared status on your 2nd account, then use your primary to borrow it and run events with it.

I've done that with some of the seasonals, where you can win level tickets for winning all the events - borrow a car from my main, run events, get ticket, save data to stick, then start sending copies of that ticket to my main account.

Best thing about sharing the cars is you can use them while keeping them 0/0/0 on the account they are on. Not that that matters much with the 2J since it can't be traded but it may help you with other cars.
