I have a question about USB wireless adapters. If I use it on one desktop and move it to another when I am not using the first one, will it still work? Would I have to do another setup for it?

I have 2 desktops that I want to use wirelessly but at seperate times. I don't want to buy a wireless card for each if I can just swap the usb adapter between them.

Can I use it for multiple computers, using one at a time?

You mean like one of these?

I can't see why it wouldn't work. You'll need to set them up the first time, I would think, but after that it shouldn't be a problem. I can't say for sure, though.

Like this one. I don't know much about them, but I figured the set up info would stay with the stick. I should just be able to move it from box to box as long as I have them set up to use wireless....at least that is the hope.

Well, I have already bought one, so I guess I'll see how it goes.....

Settings aren't saved on the dongle, they're saved on the PC.

On the plus side you'll only need to allow one MAC address through on your router.

I'm not worried about adding another MAC addy to my router. It already has 7 wireless devices allowed on it......

I just wanted an easy solution to use between two boxes that I don't plan on having on at the same time instead of buying a wireless card for each....

Thanks for the info.
