The information below is by no means final and is subject to change if the series goes live and official. It is a lot of text, but taking five minutes out of your day to read it could bring hours of fun to the GTP community. I really appreciate it!

As many of you die hard racing fans may have heard, the Grand-Am and American Le Mans Series are merging in 2014 to form the 'United Sports Car Championship'. So, I got an idea...

On GTP there are so many racing series/clubs. I figured that we could try to merge a few of our own, just as ALMS and GA did. None in specific, but I would like to see if we can 'merge' a whole bunch of freelance racers into one place where we can all have fun. This is just an interest check, (Redundant) but I already have some big ideas. I just need the backing and leadership of some people to step forward and help get this started. So without further ado, here are some basic things about the plans.

About Me: I am a 16-year-old high school student in the US. I have been playing the GT series since I got my first Sony PlayStation when I was 4. I have big dreams of being one of those rare American F1 Drivers later on in life. I figured for $200 GT5 and a wheel is a decent alternative. :) I am responsible, literate, and capable of running a series responsibly and unbiased.

The Tracks: * Denotes for sure on the venue By no means final

  1. *Circuit De La Sarthe 2009*
  2. *Monza*
  3. *Nurburgring GP/F*
  4. *Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca*
  5. *Road Course Daytona*
  6. Road Course Indianapolis
  7. Suzuka Circuit
  8. Tsukuba Circuit
  9. Circuit de Spa Francorchamps
  10. Fuji Speedway F
  11. Nurburgring Nordschleife
  12. Tokyo R246
  13. **Please Add More!**

The schedule will be narrowed to 8 tracks. If you think I missed any good ones, don't hesitate to post.

The Classes:

Grand Touring (GT)

Race Cars weighing 1150 kg and above, tuned to a maximum of 600 HP. These cars will start behind the DP's (Below), as they are a few seconds slower per lap. I would personally recommend these cars to anyone who is new to high-speed racing, or a hardened veteran looking for door-to-door finishes. The cars are lower downforce than the DP's.

Daytona Prototype (DP)

Race Cars weighing 1000 kg exactly, tuned to a maximum of 650 HP. These cars start in front of the GT's. These cars are twitchy at high speeds, and take quite a bit of finesse to drive compared to the GT series. My personal recommendation: If you are more advanced, or looking for a steep learning curve, and a lot of fun, the DP series would be what you are looking for.

Allowed Cars:
*This is still the #1 thing on the agenda, please post suggestions of cars you'd like to see added or removed from this list. Try to keep them competitive, as that is the ultimate point of this list.*

GT:
Corvette ZR1 Race Mod
All German Touring Cars (DTM)
Mitsubishi FTO Touring Car
Mazda RX-7 Touring Car
Mazda RX-7 TC (Yes, they are different)
Pre-2008 SuperGT Cars (Less Downforce Than The Premium Cars)
Mazda RX-8 Le Mans Car (Real Name Slips Me)
Nissan GT-R TC's
Subaru Impreza TC
Ford Falcon XR8
Subaru WRX STi Race Mod
Ford GT-Spec II (Still In Question)

LMP:

Bentley Speed 8
Mercedes CLK-LM '98
Mazda 787B
Audi LM Race Car '01 (Yellow + Red)
BMW '98 V12 LMR
Sauber C9 Mercedes
Toyota GT-One
Jaguar XJR (Standard & Premium)
Audi R10 TDI
Peugeot Factory Team HDI FAP 908
Peugeot Team Oreca HDI FAP 908
Peugeot 905
Nissan R89C
Nissan R92CP

Tire Restrictions: These races will have no tire restrictions, no required pit stops, save the fact that everyone must start on R2's.

Racing Rules: The rules of the race follow mostly to GTP's racing rules, although they may have certain deviations mostly that pertain for certain improvements for the whole Grand-AM style.

Give room to the faster DP's if they are approaching your GT Car.
When exiting the pits, follow the exit path to the best of your ability.
Enter the pits without making contact with cars in front of you.
*Blocking is permittedas long as cars are contacted on the front, not the sides*

Race Length/Times: Each race will be around 150 Miles. To give an idea, that's around 18 laps on Circuit de la Sarthe. The race will include a 30 Minute debrief (practice) before it starts. The races will be once per week on the same day, and time. (TBD later)

Point System:

Winner: 18 Points
2nd: 16 Points
3rd: 14 Points
4th: 12 Points
5th: 10 Points
6th: 9 Points
7th: 8 Points
8th: 7 Points
9th: 6 Points
10th: 5 Points
11th: 4 Points
12th: 3 Point
13th: 2 Points
14th: 1 Points
15th: 0 Points
16th: 0 Points

The bottom two will get no points, in order to discourage DNF's and to encourage better, more proactive strategy.

Remember these are just ideas, not the series set in stone. Just looking to see for interest.

Seems quite interesting I just don't like the ideas of the following:

Circuit De La Sarthe 2009, All German Touring Cars (DTM), Nurburgring Nordschleife, Ford Falcon XR8, Pre-2008 SuperGT Cars and Tsukuba Circuit. It just kinda takes away the realism of what your trying to do. Also it would be nice if you kept to the American circuits more, and minimum small tracks since this is Le Mans.

You should also add some cars Grand Touring cars from Grand Am like the following:

1. Camaro RM
2. Audi R8 LMS
3. SRT Viper GTS-R
4. BMW M3 GTR

Thanks for your reply, I am experimenting with all cars for their downforce, tire life, and handling. Some will be included, some will be pulled.

As far as tracks go, I would love it if we could do more American Long Track Racing. But unfortunately, the game is very lack-luster when it comes to American Tracks. In order to make a pretty good American Circuit, we'd need Willow Springs, Road America, Road Atlanta and VIR to at least have a chance at that. But, since we are limited, I figured just go worldwide and pick the courses for their content, not their origin. Also, Tsukuba was a longshot anyways. I just have an odd love for that place.

Series will be making a few changes, and will be officially posted as a series. I will be accepting sign-ups ASAP, and it will be titled differently, and there will be some larger, but mainly minor changes.

Admins/Mods can close the thread whenever, as it is no longer relevant. Thanks!
