Use your headphones as a microphone

Yes I know it sounds impossible. But it works. At least for me and two other people I asked to try. I just plugged them into the mic socket and tested it in my control panel and it works. eMad says this is potentially damaging but I used it for a whole day and they worked just fine.

It beats buying a microphone. You can use those real cheap ones from airlines.

Hmmmm, my computer came with a microphone. I think it was free because we bought a certain set of speakers to go with our computer or something. Or it may have been the subwoofer. I would try this out, but I don't have anyone to talk to, and I don't want to ruin some headphones trying.

I think the damage might come from long term use.
 
I've known this old studio trick for several decades. It even came in handy when I recorded my guitar riffs for Pako's song project.

Yeah, I just tried it to see if it worked and it did so it's become my Mic/Heaphones.
 
I always suspected it was possible - i've used a mic as a speaker before!
