So how many times have you seen a car come across the Used Car Dealership and you couldn't afford it? For it to disappear and never to be seen again?

Personally I saw a Formula GT car in my Used Cars one time, I had just started to grind to afford it and was at 240,000cr, pops in my garage. DAMNIT!!!

So I think a cool option to have in the game would be able to click a save box on cars you want to remain in your Used Cars, so they're there when you're at a point to be able to get it.

Or even take it one realistic step further and have a 25,000cr (random amount) deposit, or 5% // 10% down deposit for the Used Car Dealership to save it for you, then the deposit comes off of the final price of the car.

Would be a very small subtle change that wouldn't take a lot of effort to do, what do you guys think?
 
I think an option to get sent a message next time it's in the used car lot would be cool, but I'm starting to enjoy the way it is cos it's exciting seeing what is in there each day :)

Also my idea being as beneficial as it is, it has it's downside as well. If you have to many cars saved, then it lessens the new cars you get to see pop up.
 
I am pretty sure the point of that used car system is so you can't get whatever car you want when you want it. If you want a certain car, save up for it and make an effort to check the used car lot.

Well I think it could be like making a wishlist and the game advice you when the car (s) is (are) available at the used car dealership
 
I've seen Formula Gran Turismo twice, but haven't been able to afford it either time...

That downside I think is very good since it balances out the cars you can save so you don't just save every good car but have to think which ones to keep there.

Well, to be fair. When I started to save for the Formula GT, I was at 240,000cr. That's when it popped up.

I am now at 14,000,000cr, checking the used lot every 5 races, and nothing. Is that fair, to you?

There are 30 cars in the Used Car lot, every race you enter 6 new cars appear, x 5 = 30. I never miss a beat when it comes to checking the lot.
 
This is one of the main gripes with having 500+ totally uninspiring cars that just fill up the used car lot and taht you'll never want to buy.
 
have enough money and level for the formula gran turismo, just been spending 2 days starting and exiting races to re-populate the used dealer for it to show up :(
 
I keep trying to save money for nice cars in the lot, but whenever i check theres always something. Like the impreza WRC '99 and amuse carbon r for example.
 
I think the used car lot, along with most everything else, needs a do-over. I think my idea is a good one.

Two used lots. One is like a dealership. I called it Yamauchi Motors. In this section, you have a wide range of cars which are useful to use in race events, so you can count on cars being there when you need them. Also nicer, more desirable cars, collectible cars. Cars will get "sold" (disappear from the list) randomly, but they will be there for weeks at a time, so the useful cars are usually there. They will be higher quality cars, some maintenance done to them, so the engine, chassis and other components are in better shape regardless of mileage. Some cars could even be slightly upgraded. Cost will be a bit higher though. Holds around 100 cars, but isn't a fixed number.

The second is like a car flea market. I call this Translator-san's Swap N Shop. Anything can show up here. Quality is all over the map. Cars get sold more quickly, so you have to check daily, but they can linger much longer if they aren't particularly awesome rides. This is where you bargain shop, and prices are less. Like Y Motors, you can find cars with upgrades already installed, but quality is completely based on mileage and if raced. Like Y Motors, the lot holds around 100 cars, a variable amount.

Great idea indeed! I quote the whole thread, the deposit is a very intelligent thing to do.
And Poliphony shouldn't forget to implement the auction, that would be crucial. For keep everything fair they can create a rule that birthday car's can be sold for more than 100.000cr.

Why Not simply implement What they have on the other game (name withheld to prevent any finger pointing) and have an online auction.. where you can sell your unwanted cars for profit.. or if you buy one from the used car dealership you have the opportunity to sell it online to the highest bidder. I'd rather see that.. it would help the community.
 
I think that's a great idea! I especially like the part about making a down payment. The cars in there come and go so fast - something will be "just arrived", then I do one or two races to earn some money to buy it, but it's long gone by the time I get back. A way of saving the cars you really want would be fantastic 👍

Exactly.

In real life despite having the money readily available, you can't get every car you want when you want it. Same goes here. Just be patient and the car you want to own will eventually show up. Everyone seems to be so impatient nowadays.

Changing the used car system will ultimately take the fun out of trading car system. I kind of enjoy the hunt for car(s) because once you FINALLY acquire it there's a true sense of accomplishment. Not to mention the value of the car within the online trading community will retain it's worth. Where as if everyone's able to save cars, no one will trade anymore.

Just enjoy the game for what's it worth.

Dunno if you have received any emails ingame, but GT5 already has a cool mail system which pings you when you receive a new message. So in a way they have done the hard work, of getting a message system into GT5. Shouldn't be too hard to just add an option to the used cars which sends you a message when it's back instock. They could limit it to say 3 cars so you don't go crazy requesting all the cars :)
 
I think there ought to be multiple types of used car lots that deal with different types of cars; so, for example, there could be a JDM dealership, Euro & AUS dealership, US dealership, Exotic dealership, and so forth.

The way they have it now was very poorly thought-out, and a horrible design decision altogether.
 
Great idea, also I think they should increase the number of cars shown at once from 30 to 50 so we all spend less time looking for that car we have been saving up for!
 
I like the system, makes collectable cars... collectable, there's even a market spawned outta it.

what needs a do-over is the races, stop demanding specific cars that can't be bought in the dealership.

My idea would be quite a big rework patch. Both the deposit idea and Auction House/carbay would be a nice addition to what we have, although carbay would require some work too, but shouldn't be that hard to implement. Because the game locks you into race series, or often we just forget because we're beating our heads against events we're trying to get through, I think an addition to the message system would be good too.

By this, I mean that you have a list of the available Standard cars, since theses are the only ones in the used car lot, and you have the option to click on several of them and place deposits for them. You need to have the available credits of course. Then, when they show up in the list, your deposit would hold them for you.
 
REALLY great idea! Have like a wish list for used cars, because I have seen a few i wanted but didnt want to spend it, im saving for the F1 car. :drool:
 
I like the rarity of making a good find with the current system, but I would like to see multiple car lots or multiple sections to the one lot. They could only have say 8 cars each and update 2 per race, but with 4 lots for different types and eras of cars something like in GT4 just more streamlined. How about some tabs up the top of the lot showing which lot you're in, and having to press R1/R2 to cycle through them.

There could be General 90's-00's, Classics pre-90's and Race cars. I was thinking Breaking it up into region too but that would probably make it too easy, perhaps having a race cars section would too, but only having 2 new ones come up per race would still limit it enough. Maybe even have say 16 cars in the general lot with 4 new ones added each race, 8 in the classics with two added each race, and only 4 cars in the race car lot with 1 added each race.

As long as ive been looking i havent seen one so your not the only one. It took me like a week to finally find a '04 GTO. And i havent seen one since, and yes i did buy it haha. :dunce:
 
I found a Celica GT-Four RC in my first few hours of playing.... I bought it... then sold it later because I wanted to get some quick upgrades for a Silvia... haven't seen it since. Heart is broken.

I was too foolish, wanted the flash of the premium cars... gave up the car I love. Take heed, children.
 
They should have cars that are required for races be for sale somewhere (maybe for 20% more money or something) - Because they are "new" and not used

I spend about 3 hours today going in an out of races to finally make the Formula GT appear.
