By this I mean mostly physical since we've already seen some sort of mechanical damage in GT4 (rigidity). I'm talking about faded paint, scuff marks, scratched up wheels, maybe a small stone crack in the windshield, and maybe even some rust bubbles forming on a quarter panel. Also perhaps a small dent in the body or a worn leather steering wheel or dash.

I know everyone hates rust (and they should -- go die, rust) and other things like this, and they probably wouldn't want to buy a beaten-looking car, but it would add some realism since there are usually problems like this when buying older used cars.

Of course only some cars would be like this and you should be able to find many in very good condition, just like in real life. With an addition like this though, we should be able to fix the car up and definitely be able to repaint it. I definitely don't expect this for GT5 at all but maybe we could see something like it in the future.

Would be cool if you could see that the used car were actually... used.
If you could repair all that stuff for credits, it would give the game an even more real feeling.

EDIT: Something like this is what i wanted to see this console gen btw. the game structure needs to be even more dynamic.

Of course these damaged cars would sell for a cheaper price than the better condition ones, so if you buy a Skyline with a cracked windshield and some paint scuffs you'd be saving a bit of money.

I think it would be cool to see burnt out headlights, although replacing them might get a bit tedious over time. Maybe just only on some of the used cars and once you replace it, you're good to go.

This would be very nice, but it won't happen. Maybe in Gran Turismo 7 on Playstation 5 though! :dopey:

Definitely yay. Cars may well show signs of age in this GT game, as we've already seen evidence of dirt on bodywork, and damage.

Why not take it a step further... when you get your car painted you can't use it for like 3 days while its at the shop...

And when you blow an engine or whatever you gotta get your car towed to the shop (for CR) then pay for the work (with CR), and it takes X amount of time to do the repair. And oh noes, you're located in USA and you need new rings for your RB26 skyline... waiting 2 weeks for the parts. Could be awesome not being able to drive your car for a month while its getting fixed...

Would be PIMP for a career mode. Where stuff really matters...

<<<----Ferrari 458 Italia approves of this thread.

I like this idea, but only if there is a way to repair the used cars after you buy them.

I always had of an idea inline with your thoughta but I never expect it to happen.

I was thinking maybe have two used cars sections, one could be a Certified used dealer (like used cars at the dealerships in GT2) which have high quality generally low km stock used cars for sale, at a pretty high/average price.

Then have a general/private used dealership which has all sorts of oddball cars with aftermarket parts (performance and visual, good or bad) and various milage and condition. Although regularly checking these used dealerships you can run into bargins, like a 'nanna' low milage Fiat 500 or Nissan Bluebird or anything, or maybe a High quality tuned GTR or something for a cheap price.

YAY! why not, I would love that feature(s)

Ya I agree with this although it could get a little complicated.

I say chances are

Would be awesome if it's in though

In that case, Overnight parts from japan! :)

Yeah , I mean, if used cars aren't used, then they're just old cars.
They need to be sold "as is".

Well if parts are going to wear out on cars, now the new damage system is in place, i will be truly blown away:crazy:
Some things are going to be held back for the next game in the series though. If there is one that is after GT5, because i remember Kaz mentioning in a video interview he would like to develop a different genre of game altogether, perhaps an RPG. If that is the case then GT5 will have to go out with a bang.

Before we get PERMANENT damage in GT, lets try and focus on actual in-race weathering first. Driving 20 laps round a track with your car looking as pristine as the day it came out of the showroom can get a bit tiresome.

yeah! maybe some tree sap from parking the car under a tree and bird droppings. You'll need to take it to the detail shop to get it washed and waxed. Oh! yeah and get the carpet cleaned from that long road trip, you know???? you might find some french fries and spilled soda you've been eating and drinking while you were driving. YEAH! that's the ticket....!@##$%

It would be cool to see used cars look used, although its nothing to complain about but it is strange how the used cars were in such mint condition and yet they had high mileage. It would be a nice addition to have abit of car wear and tear. The body rigidity upgrade in GT4 would actually be alot more worth it.

Don't forget the "cigarette" burns on the dash from trying to spark up at a buck-50 down the highway.
And the "large, fuzzy dice that still hang proudly like testicles from rear view mirrors".

would be uber cool if you ment to pay for any damage you make to your car

I think it'd be great if it were in, but it probably won't be.

As is said above, It would be awesome if they did this but i don't think this sort of thing is possible with the PS3 maybe next-gen we will see this.

I say nay! If you want GT6, in ten years you can have all the that has been mentioned!! Don't think MR. Y would go for rust on his cars!! Just a guess!!:sly:
