I've tried the instructions that the patch comes with and it still won't work.

I switch to Classic, then I reboot, then I install, then I reboot, I extract the theme to the Resources/themes/ folder and I click the Style and it brings me up to my Windows Classic style.:grumpy:

Did you actually download any Visual Styles? And most of the time you have to go to the apperance tab and select the VS from there instead of from the theme tab.

Each style should have it's own folder. So, say the style is called Pimpin', you'd have the following directory:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Pimpin'
...and all the stuff for the Pimpin' style goes in there.

You're also using SP2 right? Make sure the patcher you are using to patch the dll is compliant with your build.

I haven't the slightest clue in what you are referring to. Care to elaborate on what this patch and dll is for?
You know how by default you have the Classic and Luna themes? Well, you can download other themes and use them exactly like the Classic and Luna ones (they're actually called visual styles - themes are just presets for visual style/wallpaper) without the need for resource hogs like Style XP and Windowblinds. The problem is, Windows will only allow visual styles digitally signed by Microsoft to work. The uxtheme.dll is what handles this restriction. By patching the uxtheme.dll, you can apply non-Microsoft vis styles and because they (visual styles) are directly supported by the OS, they won't use as much ram as running Style XP in the background.

I formatted my computer and I downloaded the patch you posted in the desktop's thread awhile back.

I copied the Visual Style to that directory just as you said and it hasn't worked.

Edit: This is what happens, I copy the files into the proper directory, click the visual style and the Classic theme pops up. :grumpy:

I had the same problem with my laptop. It's in the shop becaue I kinda killed the partition table when I ran Partition Magic sooo, I never got a chance to figure out the cause of the prob.

Ah. I see what you mean now. I used to use Windowblinds until I reformatted my computer and changed motherboards. Now I just use Classic view because the Default style is plain ugly.
