not an E92 though :p

German tuning firm, G Power, has shoe horned an M5 engine into a BMW M3 CSL body.

The firm has also ramped up the power a bit from the standard 507bhp to 550bhp.

This means that the CSL’s not unsubstantial (limited) top speed of 155mph has been boosted to a world stopping 208mph, while 0-62mph time is now 4.2 seconds and 0-124mph zooms past in 11.6 seconds.

This isn’t a one off car, either. They’ll bung the modded M5 motor into any current 3 Series Coupe, Z4, X5 or new M3 you care to offer them.

If 550bhp isn’t enough for you, wait a while and while they work on their supercharger kit, which boosts the power to a rather tasty 750bhp.

It’s not only power they’ve been fiddling with – they have been working on a suspension kit to make sure the car can actually handle all that power.

All of a sudden that new M3 doesn't look so tempting does it?

costs £50,000 not including the car. i want one in a 316!

Question:

Wouldn't £50,000 buy you a Vauxhall VXR8 and a Corsa VXR? Doesn't that make much more sense? Especially when you have to consider the price of the car (M3) too...

Thsi car doesn't really sound like the kind of car a guy who just wants a sports car would get. I could see this going to the type of guy who has four or five cars in his garage at least. If a more "normal" person went out to get some very expensive sports car, they would probably land more in Porsche territory. I would expect that the kind of buyer this car will attract won't want a some Vauxhall and an M3. He'll go for the better M3.

Ah, I forget that common sense is something that is lost when your wallet weighs more than your neighbor's Suburban...

Looks so good i could lick it until its spotless :p the engine looks awesome as well. Not a kind of toy you could play with like a Porsche or a Ferrari. Would be even more amazing if anyone can do a BMW M70 engine swap. With a V12 engine you could really make the car fly!

I'll take one of each please! That is probably the coolest thing I've seen all day (I guess thats not really saying much). I do wonder however how that affects the weight distribution of the older E46 M3? I don't really know the weight difference between the inline six and the V10, but I would have to imagine that stuffing that V10 and tranny into a M3 would make it considerably more front heavy.

Looks like AC Schnitzer has jumped on this bandwagon...a bandwagon though I could agree with. :D

The poster in that thread said it was done by a company called Bremgo though. It just has Ac Schnitzer wheels on it which look gross.

Yes, the old M3's engine was pretty heavy, the new V8 is actually 15kg lighter. I'd assume the V10 wouldn't be too much of a weight penalty though, and with some proper suspension tuning to address it, I'm sure it'd be a badass ride. Plus, as someone pointed out... you could do it with a far cheaper donor car. A base E46 coupe can't be too expensive these days, and a Z4 with this engine would be awesome.

YSS, this does make reasonable sense though. The E46 coupe could still fit four people relatively comfortably, the engine has more than enough power and torque to take care of everyday driving, and it's a lot more maneageable size than a VXR8. So why get two cars when one will do everything? ;)

Now, if they could only they could find a way to get the V10 shoehorned into the E39 then you would truly have the best car ever.

Why would anyone actually want a Vauxhall Corsa?

Why would anyone actually want a Vauxhall Corsa?

Well, we don't have it here, it goes like stink, and actually looks good while doing it. Granted, I love my Honda Fit, but without the gusto of the Corsa VXR, the choice is obvious...

...That is, of course, until Volkswagen brings over the Polo GTI...

;) -> It looks ok, but given the CSL not available here in the US. It's a charmer.

-> But I'd rather have the 1-series 3-door, with an '08 M3 engine. :)
