This is quite awesome. I love how the Vantage looks and now that it's amazingly fast I like it even more.

Good keeps getting better over at Aston Martin, who never seem to tire of making their sports cars faster and faster. The latest in the speed wars from their new headquarters in Gaydon is this adrenaline-dripping special-edition V12 Vantage RS.

Into what could very well prove to be the fastest, hottest Aston Martin yet, the newly independent British automaker has dropped the V12 reactor not from the recently demised Vanquish, not from the road-going DB9 or Bond-tastic DBS derivative, but from the DBRS9 race car. With somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 horsepower (!) pushing 3500 lbs, the V12 Vantage RS is anticipated to clock a 0-60 time in the 3's on its way to a 200-mph top speed. Performance target: Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. That's highly ambitious, considering that the Fiorano is widely acclaimed as one of the most competent supercars on the planet, but with that kind of juice in such a brilliant package as the Vantage's, it might not be so far-fetched.

At the time of writing, AutoWeek was the only source carrying the information, and we hope to have more details soon on the special Vantage which was unveiled earlier today on the occasion of the company's new design center. Although it was launched as a concept, sources suggest it could very well find its way into limited production and slot into the Aston Martin line-up above the current flagship DBS. We certainly hope so.

When I saw that photo my lips pursed and i breathed in heavily
That AMV12 looks awesome. Good job to aston for finally whacking a wing on a main production car.

....Oh, lord...I am glad there's no model in that pic. It'd be too much!

and the DBRS9 motor in the VANTAGE? hoo, boy...If only Porsche'd but the GT3RS motor in the Cayman...

Oh. Wow.

That is a beautiful car. I can't wait to hear and see more about it as the news spreads around the web.

And if Aston can somehow match the performance of the 599 I will be very impressed. I would surely pick this car over the 599.👍

I'm not seeing any photo. Sounds good though.

Well atleast people can't complain that the V8 Vantage is too slow now.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the rims or the rear wing, makes it look a little bit, cobbled together from spare parts look. The rest I'm fine with, and as always I will support it as I'm a Aston Martin nutter.

[Clarkson] POWER!!!!!!!! [/Clarkson]

This is what should have been, and my God, I'm sure that there will be nothing but positives to say about the car assuming that the Prodrive folks get the chassis properly sorted. I mean, wow... I love the car to death even when its "slow," I can't imagine how much I'm going to love it now that it will be properly fast!

There, hopefully the photo is fixed.
I can see it now Joey 👍. That's not bad for someone that's trying to modify perfection. Not too racey and in your face but still shows the "Yes I'm fast" character.

As awesome as it looks, certainly I'm not the only one who finds the idea of the flagship of the line being based on the lowest car in the range a bit odd.

While it might've been "slow" in stock form, at least it wasn't muddling up the lineup with too-similar models. Nobody wants to pull a new TVR.

Oh my. That is most definitely one sexy machine. 👍👍

"Yes, I'm fast. Would you like Tea with that? Hold on to it.."

Daddy likes. But, whats the point of a DB9 now? I thought the Vantage was supposed to be the "baby" Aston? I vote for more power in the DB9. ;)

The DB9 is a Grand Tourer, the Vantage is a sports car. There's a a heck of a lot of difference between the two underneath thier similar body styles. The two cars being completely different sizes for a start, the DB9 haveing rear seats and the fact that you arn't going to buy a DB9 for it's screaming race car derived engine to go and spank a few Ferrari's at the track with. The DB9 is fast and all, but it's a GT, this is a sports car. That's like saying what's the point of the 599GTB when you can buy the Ferrari's F430 Scuderia which is probably quicker.

 I like that 👍.

I don't like the colour and the lights, but the idea is awesome. I just hope it's not too nose heavy with that rather larger lump up front.

The DB9 is a GT, this is going to be a balls-out sports car.

ExigeExcel

Surely it won't have the same plushy interiors as the rest of the range? Or will Aston take second place to the 599 and offer the same interior excellence of the DB9?

You mean as plushy as the N24? That's really plushy that. I'd expect it to be nice, but not DB9 nice. The standard Vantage isn't DB9 nice, I'd expect this to be a bit more racey than the standard Vantage but not bare bones like the N24.

I say keep a nice interior, fast and comfortable is much better then fast and having immense pain in your backside. Look at that Aston James May drove on the Top Gear episode where they are trying to find the greatest driving road...would you really want to drive that every day?

Whaaaaaaaaaaay too much alcantara. I reserve that for stearing wheel and maybe seats, but blasting the whole interior with the stuff? Nuh-uh.

eeewwwwwwwww!
That interior is almost as drab, boring and "John Major" grey as my Sebring's! :yuck:

Exterior looks pretty nice though, I'll add it to my Christmas list! ;)

...If only Porsche'd but the GT3RS motor in the Cayman...
Off topic: A 997. 3.8 twin turbo engine with 700 hp and 890NM torque. (656 lbf-ft), in a modified Cayman. Not the same thing as you suggest but close ;).

Back on topic: As for the V12 vantage RS, 👍 x1000. It's is such a beautiful car and fast as well. But only as a limited edition. Ruf Rt12 is no longer my favourite car. It has been replaced by the AM V12 vantage RS.

:)

Interesting concept for sure. Looks good too, with the exception of those cheap looking aftermarket alloys.

... I forgot to mention that I don't like that wing. It doesn't seem right on this car.

Look, doesn't it look better without that wing?

I don't like the wheels or the colour of the car and interior. In a different colour that car would definitely be bringing sexy back.
